Donald Trump admitted to The New York Times on Saturday that retweeting an unflattering photo of Heidi Cruz was a mistake and that he would not do it again if given the opportunity.
"Yeah, it was a mistake," he told columnist Maureen Dowd. "If I had to do it again, I wouldn't have sent it."
Dowd was asking about an incident last month in which Trump retweeted a picture of Cruz, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's wife, during a spat involving a nude photo of Trump's wife, Melania, that was circulated by an anti-Trump super PAC.

He acknowledged it was a mistake only because he got a lot of flack for it and it backfired.

Ask Mrs. Submareener if she’d like you to put up a picture of the airbrushed Melania Trump next to a goofy one of hers [for comparison] when she was “caught” unawares. And then if you went ahead and did it anyway, ask her what apology she would accept from you, to keep you from sleeping in the garage. Most likely that would be similar to the one DJT should use.
I could post that a thousand times and Make America Awesome could acknowledge it a million times, but little trumpers believe what makes them feel good.
This whole Trump thing is gonna come crashing down and there will be some very sad people around here.

Sorry, but on her worst day, and without any makeup at all, Mrs. Submareener is much more beautiful than Melania Trump, so there are no goofy pictures of her.
Trump must be really, really real because he has to admit to mistakes every single day and twice tomorrow (that’s Sunday)
It’s really hard to be less of an asshole than Donald Trump but I believe his supporters here may have accomplished it.

No, it was a screen grab ...even the beloved Melania could look bad in a screen grab.
It was an extremely nasty action by Trump and.... lol ... he can’t blame anyone else. He tweeted it out with his own short fingers and he would do it again if it hadn’t backfired.
He is a nasty human being and he has corrupted approximately .... I don’t know ... one-half of the freepers here.
And by corrupted, I don’t mean that they support him. I mean that they abandon all previously held positions or moral standards in order to excuse the man for what he does.
What kind of grown up would do that? What kind of grown man almost 70 and running for president would put out a picture of another man’s wife ... even if it had been a normal picture .. with the ‘my wife is prettier than your wife’ theme.
How can you defend or support that?
How can you think it is normal or wholesome.
Trump is a man of low self-esteem who has to constantly be validated. He gets some validation by having the hottest wife or girlfriend.
A man like that is dangerous. He should not be in charge of anything.

A very ‘lawyerly’ answer as all SuperPacs are by law ‘independent’. Notice Cruz didn’t say one word regarding the distastefulness of said ad and never did disavow the group to my knowledge. He benefited.
But Ted shouldn’t apologize for his SuperPAC posting that picture of Trump’s wife. Just before the Caucus. Hypocrisy be thy name.

Just as this thread was making me sick because of the endless stupidity of the trumpers, you made me laugh out loud.
Lately, (and, frankly before), when Trump is called out, he backs down and pivots to the left.
When Cruz is called out, he pivots right.
Hilarious!! cRuz pivots in whatever direction he sees Trump’s backside. All cRuz can do is copy whatever Trump says....build the wall, trade, etc, etc.
