Trump to NYT on Heidi Cruz retweet: 'Yeah, it was a mistake'
CNN ^ | April 2, 2016 | Eugene Scott

Posted on 04/02/2016 3:04:13 PM PDT by McGruff

Donald Trump admitted to The New York Times on Saturday that retweeting an unflattering photo of Heidi Cruz was a mistake and that he would not do it again if given the opportunity.

"Yeah, it was a mistake," he told columnist Maureen Dowd. "If I had to do it again, I wouldn't have sent it."

Dowd was asking about an incident last month in which Trump retweeted a picture of Cruz, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's wife, during a spat involving a nude photo of Trump's wife, Melania, that was circulated by an anti-Trump super PAC.

Apology for what? The picture wasn't photo shopped, sleaze Cruz was the one that started dissing Trump's wife with an ad in Utah, if you're gonna dish it out, then be ready to take it, sleaze Cruz needs to disavow what the superpac did on his behalf, only then can you hypocritical Cruzbots complain about Trump's response to it.

Obviously not Ted Cruz. He’d have so many more supporters if he didn’t tell us to STFU during the Chicago rally or if he’d at least apologize like this “top bloke”
But nooooo... Lying Ted has the establishment cheating behind him so he doesn’t need real voters. What a Sheila!!

Thanks for reminding me about when Ted Cruz says a candidate has to be responsible for his campaign. I remember FR was alive with histrionics from the Trump followers that Ted Cruz campaign was over because of that statement. Oops.

Well he knows it was not a good thing so I’m glad he admitted it. My guess is Trump was so furious about Cruz’s super pac putting up that Utah ad with Melania’s pic he just did a knee jerk reaction.

http://www.redstate.com/streiff/2016/03/30/trump-campaign-manager-ted-cruz-nothing-nekkid-melania-trump-ad/

“Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, said in a radio interview on Tuesday that Ted Cruz’s campaign was not involved in an attack ad on Trump’s wife, Melania.”

If conservatives weren’t so busy with the circular firing squad, we would have knows the ad was a dirty trick designed to hurt Trump locally in Utah (by showing his wife nude in a conservative state) and Cruz nationally (by making it look like Cruz was involved in a sleazy attack).

Cruz and Trump agree far more than 80% of the time (see my tagline from Ronald Reagan). They should be friends and allies, and we should treat both of them as such.

Heidi was not the target of his anger
You don’t diss a man’s wife because he dissed yours
“ but he did it first” is the reasoning of a 5 yr old

If he had a beef with Cruz take it to Cruz

Trump just retweeted that ugly picture he didn’t design it
But GEEZ
Grow up and step away from Twitter jokes about peoples’ looks and intelligence
I mean is that too much to ask of the wannabe leader of the free world?

>> Carson also assured us that Trump does not really believe all that he tells the public <<

Oh my, ain't that just dandy!

And why, oh why, would the good Dr. Carson sully his own reputation by associating himself so closely with a con-man who admittedly doesn't tell the truth?

Well, my FRiend, we certainly live in interesting times!

The retweet was in response to the Cruz attack on his wife, why was Trump's wife brought into an attack ad, if you're gonna defend Heidi Cruz, then you need to be critical of the pro-Cruz attack ad that started it, and quit using fag Cooper's talking point to attack Trump, typical Cruzer, TYPICAL. You people are shameless.

If Cruz had disavowed the Ad and the Super Pac who sent it out as soon as it became Public, that would have been the end of it.

The problem is, he didn’t. The Pic that Trump “retweeted” just came up on his Twitter feed and he goofed when he sent it along.

I assume he was pissed about the attack on Melania and just had a kneejerk reaction when he came upon the Heidi Pic.

A mistake and an apology are two different things.

Did he apologize? If you don’t know just say so.

Will Ted Cruz apologize for his Super PACs dirty tricks.

____________________________________________________

Well he shouldn’t apologize for something he has nothing to do with.

It is illegal for the campaign to consult with any super pac. BTW the pac seems to be anti trump not pro Cruz.

The lies are a part of what Trump in his current mess.

Trump joins the ‘apology brigade’ in America, I think I’m going to be sick...
It's not an apology, he simply said it was a mistake...Not "I'm sorry"

Trump doubled down(again) and lost.
Where is the take-no-prisoners Trump?
Lately, (and, frankly before), when Trump is called out, he backs down and pivots to the left.
When Cruz is called out, he pivots right.
It is their core beliefs.
I will take Cruz.

The Trumpsters didn’t think that Trump had made a mistake when he did it. Indeed, they were all for it.

Now that he has said that he made a mistake, these same people are heralding him for saying that he made a mistake.

Oh, well. We do indeed live in interesting times.

Two wrongs never make a right
Go ask your mama
Cruz was wrong
Trump shoulda smacked him down like a real man
Not gone after his wife who can’t help looking weird
That was thoughtless and unproductive
To say the least
