Donald Trump Staffer on CNN: Ted Cruz Made “Death Threat” On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’
Deadline Hollywood Daily ^ | March 31, 2016 2:37pm | by Lisa de Moraes

Jimmy Kimmel’s show aired a “death threat” against Donald Trump made by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a Trump staffer charged on CNN today.

Jimmy Kimmel To Ted Cruz: “If he wasn’t Ted Cruz, he probably would be reported and investigated by the Secret Service,” Karen Giorno, identified by CNN as Trump campaign southeast regional director, told Jake Tapper.

“It should offend every American. This is a presidential race,” said the staffer of a GOP candidate who, two months earlier, boasted at a rally, “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.”

“This is not a time to be joking about the front-runner and essentially running him over and causing him harm or death,” Giorno continued.

Last night, Cruz made his first visit to Kimmel’s ABC late-night show. He followed a guest who had showed viewers how to scare a pal on April Fools Day by taping a photo of Donald Trump to the back of the pal’s car, covering the back-up camera. Said Cruz, when Kimmel asked if he liked President Obama or Trump better, “If I were in my car and getting ready to reverse, and saw Donald in the backup camera, I’m not confident which pedal I’d push.”

This afternoon, Cruz communications director Alice Stewart told Tapper, “It was a joke, on a late-night comedy show,” adding it was “no surprise the Trump team is going to focus on this.”

CNN contributor and GOP strategist Ana Navarro counseled Giorno that the country will not get through this election cycle that Trump has done so much to plunge into a “cuckoo crazy” phase without the help of humor and liquor, “so lighten up.”

“This is not the kind of humor we want,” responded Giorno. “My candidate has Secret Service protection for a reason. There are people out there that are out to physically harm him, OK? So what we’re talking about, another presidential candidate talking about backing over him with a car – that’s not funny.”

What did you say about Graham’s comments about killing Trump on the floor of the senate? Was that okay with you?

Whether it was a joke or not, we know from the Bobby Kennedy death that candidates will be targeted by disturbed people.

There’s probably nothing here except an intent to joke, but that does not mean that it is wise.

No doubt by me anymore. There is a liberal manipulative MSM conspiracy to keep any of the deeply serious issues and constitutional discussion from transpiring in this election, cynically replacing it by Bread and Circuses for the dumbed down sheeple they fear might otherwise awake and coming to a realization about their predicament, DEMAND THEIR LIBERATION FROM SERFDOM UNDER BIG GOVERNMENT.

Ted may think it is funny, but it isn’t because Trump gets many death threats.

Stuff said like this could be seen as suggestive by some nutcase.

Fields, after being warned, twice iirc, by the Secret Service, to stop grabbing Trump, kept at it. Eventually Lewandowski intervened. Originally Fields said he tried to throw her to the ground, and she barely managed to stay on her feet. For some reason, even after video emerged showing her running afoul of the Secret Service, she filed charges. That is why we’re talking about it.

She seems like a bit of a crank. I think I heard that Breitbart let her go.

Wait a minute. So trump saying something harmless to Heidi is a threat

What did he say to Heidi? I don't know anything about this.

but Cruz saying he’d run over trump is cool?

Well if we are going to split hairs about this nonsense, I'll have to point out that he didn't actually say he would run him over. He said something along the lines of having to decide which pedal to use.

It is entertaining the thought of running Trump over that is the joke. Of course he wasn't serious, and it should have been taken as a "Ha Ha." Trump could have responded with, "Oh Yeah? We'll i'll get a Bulldozer and think about running You over!" or some such. Trump should have fired back with some sort of in kind joke.

Cruz is getting a free ride this primary. No vetting at all. Not sure why.

Not sure what you mean about this. I see article after article posted here on Free Republic about Ted Cruz, and they range from somewhat reasonable, to stark raving kookery. A lot of people are citing liberal websites in their criticism of Cruz.

From what I can see, he's getting lots of vetting, and a lot of it is just not even fair or reasonable.

Shhhhh- don’t clue them into the fact that it’s making their candidate look desperate- let them run with it-

I don't have anything against Trump or his supporters. There are a lot of things I like about him.

Let the best man win.

It’s not fun to be misconstrued in a gottcha kind of way. The drive bys love to do it to whoever the leading Republican is. So now a Trump guy does it to Cruz...and I’m thinking he was making a point about it. When defending himself from this the high ground for Cruz is to acknowledge that the same is being done to Trump and that it should stop for everybody.

What Donald joked abouf shooting someone was in general: however with Ted his joke was directed to an individual. That individual was Donald Trump.

Another difference I've noticed - I've never heard Trump launch a personal attack another candidates supporters, yet Cruz calls Trump supporters low info and dumb, and his sidekick Beck called them unchristian.

Things like that may seem small to some, but it makes a pretty big difference to me.

The trouble with jokes like that they can inspire nutjobs to actually do what the sane people are laughing about.

RE: What did you say about Graham’s comments about killing Trump on the floor of the senate?

Can’t comment unless I read about what he said. In context of course.

When I read about Trump saying he could shoot someone or murder and still not lose support, I knew he was joking and using hyperbole. When I watched Cruz make this remark on Kimmel’s show, I knew it was said in jest.

I don’t know what Graham said so I can’t comment.

[[I don’t have anything against Trump or his supporters.]]

I do have one thing against some trump supporters, and that is the vile disgusting rumor mongering that has been going on- I’m not saying all trump supporters are like this- just the most rabid ones- The crap they are making up is absolutely vile

Support for a candidate is one thing- even fervent support- but when it comes to bearing false witness the likes of which this site has witnessed over the last several days, that’s an entirely different issue, and one that i take issue with them on- they are attempting to destroy a man and his family, and several women by sick vile spreading false information- The places their minds and accusations have gone to are disgusting
