The distinctive blue and white design was created by Mendel Jacobs, the only Scottish-born Rabbi living north of the border, and has been registered with the Scottish Tartans Authority.

Even a vegetarian haggis would be treyf if any of the veggies involved contained shellac. Still, I think that a kosher haggis could be made by using substitutes for any forbidden organ meats.

I used to have a book that listed all the tartans. (My husband got custody of it in our divorce, and then he passed away...) No two tartans are alike.

And then there’s that “guttural” “H” that appears in both Scottish and Hebrew!
Great Scot! Have we found the Lost Tribes!?! :-)

Yes, I know they are technically different
My Mother was a McDuffie and she used to have a framed print of Clan McPhee tartan. It is officially Clan McPhee although they admit that McDuffie was the earlier spelling.
Their tartan is registered with the Lord Lyon and is an official tartan.

Maybe they should call it the Gadstein flag. :)

Once a "broken clan" after the last chieftain and his sons were murdered by a renegade member of Clan MacDonald (their traditional allies) Clan MacPhee (or MacDuffee) is again recognized with this badge and tartan. I'm from the side that made it Ireland to (as a Scottish friend put it) "avoid English rope".

Because of my heritage, I am eligible to wear several tartans. A situation I am very proud of, for being a commoner!

Me too. All my Great Greats have Scottish names except for one and that is Collins which I suppose is Irish.
