North Korea instructed the country Monday to brace itself for possible famine and severe economic hardship but not to despair, because the road to revolution is long and arduous, according to an editorial in the state-run newspaper.
The article, published in Rodong Sinmun the print mouthpiece of the North Korean government comes less than a month after the U.N. Security Council voted in favor of slapping the Hermit Kingdom with tougher sanctions, after the country teased its potential nuclear and military capabilities earlier this year. The editorial stated that hardships to come might evoke another arduous march the term assigned to the famine that struck the country in the mid-1990s, killing as many as 3 million people, reports the Telegraph, a British newspaper.
We may have to go on an arduous march, during which we will have to chew the roots of plants once again, the editorial piece read.

Al-ric Bald-rin would go for a famine about now...
Isn’t Communism wonderful? Maybe someone should remind Obama.
Send Sally Struthers over there, she’s got experience in this area.
Good point. And with nukes, it should be really interesting.
Their Deer Leader, Wo Fat, ate all the food. ;-)
From the article: “The Telegraph reports that the country has also requested nearly half a million tons of food aid from other countries. As of last month, however, only 17,600 tons had arrived.”
NK is in effect asking ‘other countries’ to subsidize/underwrite its military expenditures. The NK leadership is making the choice to spend on guns instead of on butter.
The answer is regime change.
It is not like the USSR where there was a steady trickle of information to counteract the propaganda.
Maybe some of them sense that something is wrong but they can't quite put their finger on it.
Maybe this is part and parcel for how the North operates.
What money they can’t get from extortion, they get from pleading with world relief organizations.
>>What a stinking country with stinking leadership.<<
Important point: this is a perfect example of how humans can be beaten down to a point where they refuse to fight back and they would rather starve to death than fight. Not unlike the Nazi concentration camps during WWII. Horrible.
Would it be cruel to carpet bomb the country with pictures of food?
I feel for the people, not for the military.
You can bet that the slob wth the funny hair cut and the ruling members of the politburo and the North Norean military will not be preparing for s famine.Theyll be eating like kings while the peasants starve.
N. Korea, S. Korea. Socialism, capitalism. Are Sanders supporters even conscious. And don’t tell me “democratic”. That’s the difference between murder and suicide.
“I wonder what the NK man-on-the-street thinks about their Dear Reader?........................”
Well, whatever it is, if he wants to go on living, he keeps it to himself!
"This was your cousin, right?"
They’d probably eat her.
And anyone who actually tries to prepare could be shot for hoarding.
How about carpet bombing the country with non-perishable food items? The NKs would probably be executed or sent to prison if they got caught eating it, though, or insane fat boy Kim would have his minions do something evil like poison it and leave it for people to find. We would then be blamed for the poison.
Something tells me that the 3 million N. Koreans didn’t read the editorial because they were eating the paper instead...
