Donald J. Trump, girding for a long battle over presidential delegates and a potential floor fight at the Cleveland convention, has enlisted the veteran Republican strategist Paul J. Manafort to lead his delegate-corralling efforts, according to people briefed on Mr. Trumps plans.
Mr. Trump confirmed the hire in a brief telephone interview. Yes, he said, it is true.
Mr. Manafort, 66, is among the few political hands in either party with direct experience managing nomination fights: As a young Republican operative, he helped manage the 1976 convention floor for Gerald Ford in his showdown with Ronald Reagan, the last time Republicans entered a convention with no candidate having clinched the nomination.
He performed a similar function for Mr. Reagan in 1980, and played leading roles in the 1988 and 1996 conventions, for George H. W. Bush and Bob Dole.
Mr. Manafort has drawn attention in recent years chiefly for his work as an international political consultant, most notably as a senior adviser to former President Viktor F. Yanukovych of Ukraine, who was driven from power in 2014.
The hire is a sign that Mr. Trump is intensifying his focus on delegate wrangling as his opponents mount a tenacious effort to deny him the 1,237 delegates he would need to secure the Republican nomination. Under those circumstances, Mr. Trumps opponents hope they can wrest that prize away from him in a contested convention....

I read the Washington Post and Hot Air articles, and if anyone reads them, they will see that Trump authorized no SuperPACs and told the ones that started, to shut down. It looks as though he discussed using them before he announced his run and decided against having any.
Thanks for the links.
He’s always been ecstatic about a ‘few’ delegates before.
But times change, don’t they?
Going into the convention, Ford had won more primary delegates than Reagan, as well as a plurality in popular vote.
And after that, Reagan did about four years worth of radio spots outlining his policies during the Carter years. By 1980, everybody knew who he was and where he stood on the issues. It really was a stroke of genius. I still remember, “I’m Ronald Reagan, thanks for listening” at the end of each spot.
——Do you not find it a bit curious that Sleazy Donald attacks Heidi
.
.
.
any links or info on when he attacked Heidi Cruz?
Wives should be off limits.
I am sure these two tweets were not an attack, just looked that way to everyone but Trump supporters.
What "attack" on Heidi?
those are ATTACKS?
what would poor Ted do if he was POTUS and a real attack happened?
crawl behind all the women he surrounds himself with for cover?
Here’s some pearls for you to clutch.
It must be nice to just oversimplify, generalize and label your way to your mouth-breathing, navel-gazing, booger-eating comfort-zone. Now go outside and play like a good little twit, the adults have things to discuss.
Somebody seems more than just a little bit threatened by “The Donald.” Your Freudian slip is showing...
Adults don’t constantly talk about boogers.
Six year olds do.
Having handily disposed of Lyin Ted, Mr. Trump is now consolidating his wins, and organizing for more passenger room on the Trump Train.
Ted made a YUGE mistake. He hit on Trumps wife using Carly Fiorina. ( Who would vote for a face like that?)Carly and Ted made a try for revenge that Trump knew was coming eventually and then?
Kaboom.
Bye , bye Lyin Ted.
“Donald Trump, using his own short fingers, tweeted out a picture of Heidi (which was a carefully selected unflattering screen shot) next to a studio pose of the lovely Melania, fully clothed this time in a suprememly childish display of my wife is prettier than your wife.”
So? That’s considered an attack? Are you one of those snow flakes from Mizzou?
“You think hed use his own money for you? Or for the country.”
What other candidate is going to use their own money for me?
“crawl behind all the women he surrounds himself with for cover?”
Like he did with Carly yesterday? Yeh, that’s some leadership right there.
And Manafort is also a guy who was a partner of the infamous Roger Stone in the political management team of Black, Manafort & Stone. I am acquainted with Manafort but had not iknown that he worked for Feckless Ford against Ronaldus Maximus in 1976. That says A LOT.
What was the HUD scandal involving Paul Manafort?
It was a retweet IIRC.
