Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) could be in prime position to run for president in 2020 if Donald Trump leads the GOP to a monumental collapse in November.
With his youth and sunny, Reaganesque message, Ryan could be a formidable White House candidate in four years’ time, when the Republican Party may be searching for a safer standard-bearer after the roller coaster ride of 2016.

Anyone who is not for an endless spigot of illegal and criminal aliens, open borders and cheap labor is declared "unwinnable" against the Democrats and someone who is not a "safer standard-bearer".
"Formidable" means amnesty and open borders because it is "safer". "Safer standard-bearer" means you are for unsafe borders. "Mudslinging" means you say you want to build the wall. A "positive, forward-looking vision for the party and nation" means you never will build a wall or secure the border, and it means amnesty for illegal and criminal aliens now and for all those to come without end. "More civility" means never question the establishment who continues the same-old-same-old, "name-calling" means you dared question the establishment, and going along with the establishment's open borders agenda is "looking and sounding presidential", and going along to get along with the establishment's same-old-same-old is "raising our gaze and aiming for a brighter horizon".
"Reaganesque" now means amnesty, open borders and cheap labor is the most important thing in the world and open borders and betraying the American worker and an endless spigot of cheap labor is now the new definition of "conservative".
Anyone who is part of the Reagan coalition is not "Reaganesque" and needs to be stopped.
"No presidential ambitions" means you want to use any means necessary to retain power including being declared the President by fiat. Having "big policy dreams for the country, not big political dreams for myself" means focus on the big policy of the establishment's amnesty, open borders and cheap labor policy and nothing else is bigger or more important than that even if it means you give the Democrats everything they want. Not doing so is "ugly" and doing so is "consensus". "National figure" means only Mexican votes matter, "fundraising powerhouse" means you get money from the donor class behind the agenda of amnesty, open borders, an endless spigot of cheap labor, and from the globalist elite that has betrayed the American worker and money from crony capitalists.
Writing about Paul Ryan in a flattering way means Stop Trump and Stop the Republican Base by any means necessary, but make it sound "check pants" and "pinstriped" yet "soft toy" and "blue plate".
