WASHINGTON — A Donald Trump supporter aired unsubstantiated rumors of Ted Cruz infidelity on CNN on Friday. Within an hour, Cruz accused Trump of using “henchmen” to peddle tabloid “garbage” and “complete and utter lies.”
By mid-afternoon, Trump took to social media to deny his involvement in the story.
Mainstream news outlets had steered clear of the rumors and a report in the tabloid National Enquirer before the Trump supporter — appearing live with Amanda Carpenter, a CNN commentator who had worked as Cruz’s communications director — demanded Carpenter address the allegation that she had an affair with the senator.
“It is categorically false. You should be ashamed for spreading this kind of smut,” Carpenter shot back, visibly angry, denouncing the “tabloid trash.”
Twitter and other social media have erupted since the Enquirer posted its story Thursday afternoon, with the hashtag #Cruzsexscandal trending. Cruz detractors mounted an impromptu crowdsourcing effort online to identify the five women whose photos the Enquirer published with black bars across their eyes.
Cruz was campaigning in Wisconsin as Friday’s CNN segment was airing onstage live at a town hall in Oshkosh. The Enquirer report did not come up in the Q&A. The senator addressed it with reporters afterward.
Cruz also posted a denial on his Facebook page.

To be clear: all of the women are unnamed and published as denying it. The fact that Nat Examiner DID write that they all are denying it means that Cruz’ campaign can’t turn the women against the magazine then sue the magazine. Nat Examiner has decades of practice beating slander lawsuits... and writing articles to know exactly how to make any slander suits against them beatable.
Yes, but he had an early morning thing with Fox that day. It is quite conceivable that he and his staff were getting up early to get everything prepped for Cruz going on Fox. Not conclusive proof of anything.
If ever there was a case of Defamation of Character, this is it, but Cruz won’t sue, wouldn’t want pesky depositions under oath.
This is, I’m quite sure, exactly what Trump was threatening Cruz with. The guy’s a kingpin in industries dominated by mafia (real estate construction, gambling, golf resorts*.) He knows how to play the mafia.
(*Yes, the big money in golf resorts is prostitution; the clientele is rich businessmen on business and recreation without their wives.)

Trump said his campaign wasn’t involved. What a pathetic, cowardly snivelling liar. The only sourced quote in the Nat Examiner article was Trump’s henchman, “former” communications consultant Roger Stone. Yeah, like Trump doesn’t have his hand up Stone’s ass.
In the article, Roger Stone doesn’t say anything other than “where there’s smoke, there’s fire”. He’s not the source of any of the actual claims. And you put “former” in quotes, but Stone “resigned” (i.e., got the boot) in August last year because Trump rightly realized that he is Glenn Beck levels of retarded at times and would be toxic to the campaign.

The Associated Press has to be in Hillary Clinton’s camp, yet here is a paragraph from the AP’s Saturday story in my Northern California newspaper:
“The Cruz story published this week in the tabloid described what it called rumors, PROVIDING NO EVIDENCE that Cruz had engaged in an extramarital affair. THE ONLY SOURCE quoted by name was a former Trump campaign adviser, Roger Stone, who said such “stories have been swirling around Cruz for some time” without offering any evidence they are true.”
SO LET’S RECAP: Trump has lived a rather immoral, sleazy life, dumping two wives for mistresses and then being a serial adulterer (by his own accounts in two books). So now Trump’s pal at the National Enquirer (the publisher) runs a sleazeball story attacking Cruz as having affairs and the only source quoted is Trump’s advocate, Roger Stone. WHO IN THE SANDHILL IS CIRCULATING THE RUMORS — none other than Roger Stone. The source of the attacks on Cruz keeps coming back to Trump — what a doubly sleazy guy.
While it appears Amanda put him in “fun mood” sometime before 5:22 AM. Since they had fresh matching temporary tats I say she was with him. The tats BTW are sold in sets of two.

There’s nothing to take issue with here: this is a true statement. Then then story goes on to cover the very stories in question, which have been discussed by Rubio people and other GOP operatives and the press under the hashtag #TheThing on twitter publicly, and who else even knows privately, for months now.
So, you can get all high and mighty about it if you want to, but all evidence suggests this had nothing to with Trump, the Melania ad, or anything else. It’s all Cruz and nothing but the Cruz, and his denial of the allegations was weaksauce and his profession of innocence/fidelity was non-existent.
Trump had sex twists with the third fleet.
The Cruz camp said so.
