TEXAS senator Ted Cruz is embroiled in a sex scandal befitting the bizarre nature of the current the Republican race for the presidential nomination.
An angry Cruz has accused “Donald Trump and his henchmen” of feeding the National Enquirer a salacious story claiming the conservative Christian politician has had extramarital affairs with five different women.
“This National Enquirer story is garbage. It is complete and utter lies,” Cruz snapped after a campaign stop in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Friday.
“It is a tabloid smear, and it is a smear that has come from Donald Trump and his henchmen.”
The supermarket tabloid did not identify them by name, but published pixelated headshots of the women with black bars across their eyes.
The women were described as a hooker, a teacher, and co-workers.
Cruz also took to Facebook this morning to slam the allegations.
“These smears are completely false, they’re offensive to Heidi and me, they’re offensive to our daughters, and they’re offensive to everyone Donald continues to personally attack,” he posted.
“Donald Trump’s consistently disgraceful behaviour is beneath the office we are seeking and we are not going to follow.”
Despite his efforts the squash the story, the hashtag #CruzSexScandal has been the top trending hashtag on Twitter this morning, adding to the candidate’s woes.

I can’t believe there are people on here who are accusing Ted Cruz of cheating with 5 women, based on a stupid “Enquirer” article! I get that they don’t like T. Cruz, but basing a sex scandal article on an “Enquirer” article, and expecting people to believe it really out of line, to me! Good heavens!

But I'd have a hard time voting for one who publicly lied about it after being publicly caught.
Let's see the story play out. It may or may not be something.
Then stop !!! We should be uniting we are NOT the freakin enemy the beast is ...how many times do we need to be clear about that. Seems nobody’s listening because we’re too busy slitting each others throats. I’ll continue to raise my voice until people come to their senses!! If all that's true I'd agree Cruz is not out of line by accusing Trump.

I just got home and I a DEFINITELY not up to speed on all the dynamics.
As a top lawyer, Cruz surely realizes that NE wouldn’t stick their neck out like they have unless they have provable evidence against him. Another libel suit against Gawker? recently cost them $100 Million. NE is surely aware of their liability if this article is false.
And in light of that reality, the best Cruz can come up with is to blame Trump for a dirty trick? Say it ain’t so! The debate king can merely mumble an accusation against someone else?
This doesn’t look good.
I would expect a world class debater, smartest attorney to ever come out of Harvard, to rear up, become righteously indignant, and promise to sue NE out of existence. And certainly not just give a wimpy pass-the-buck criticism of a political opponent. Trump didn’t publish the article. NE did! Where’s the lawsuit?!
