In a new clinical trial to observe a new method of injecting islet cells into a patient with Type 1 diabetes, doctors from the University of Miamis Diabetes Research Institute have confirmed that their first trial patient no longer needs insulin therapy.
Wendy Peacock, their first patient, has been giving herself insulin injections and following a strict daily schedule to take care of her diabetes since she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 17.
Now 43, Peacock has undergone the surgery in this new trial and no longer needs injections because her body is producing insulin naturally. Since the minimally-invasive procedure in August 2015, she also no longer has the dietary restrictions that coincide with having Type 1 diabetes.

Interesting.
I want some!!!! What a blessing this could be for so many!
You and me both!
Just as soon as the FDA approves it. Say 30 years?
oops, she still has to use anti-rejection drugs. But, will her body heal from the ravages of diabetis? Like nerve regeneration?
Fast tracked quietly for inner circle liberal leaders of course.
Some anti rejection drugs can be nasty. I wonder what she takes?
This is great news. I pray this continues to be successful. I have a good friend who has two children with this affliction. The eldest, now in her twenties, is a beautiful girl with a great spirit. The youngest, not yet 10 struggles with the daily routine and sad surprises that juvenile diabetes produces.
Damage done probably can’t be reversed, but those with Type I or early Type II will get benefits.
As the mother of two diabetics, this is pretty much all I want from life at this point.
Skip carbs and avoid it in the 1st place (for most people).
The state of medical achievements these days is truly amazing.
I think it's a small percentage of people who can take care of themselves like that.
It works, it will never get approval. The diabetes groups will never let it pass, they will be out of work.
Kids that underwent previous versions of this therapy had to assume increased cancer risk and a life long routine of immune system suppression. My spouse has been an insulin injection diabetic for 40 years. She has recently undergone a thirty day intervention and no longer injects insulin.
my nephew just had a kidney transplant and a pancres transplant where they put the cells in ur pancreas,,,everything went well now no more dialaylis or insulin..no more a diabetic hes like 31
You do understand this is talking about type 1, the cause of which is not diet or weight related, right?
Cynic...
