Trump, Not Cruz, Escalated 'Wife Fight'
Weekly Standard ^ | March 25, 2016 | Michael Warren

Posted on 03/25/2016 10:22:02 AM PDT by reaganaut1

...

To briefly summarize: A small organization of citizens with the sole purpose of stopping Donald Trump paid for online ads that used a publicly available photograph of Trump's wife to attack him. Trump responded by incorrectly attributing the ads to Cruz and then attacking Cruz's wife, a message that reached an exponentially larger number of people than the targeted Facebook ads. Cruz defended his wife, defended Trump's wife, and denounced the original ad, with which he had nothing to do. Trump responded to this by tweeting out to his millions of followers an unflattering photo of Cruz's wife. And Trump supporters have either tacitly approved of Trump's attack or ignored it.

The whole episode was the equivalent of a Red Sox fan heckling a Yankees pitcher from the stands and the pitcher in turn throwing a fastball right into the Red Sox batter's face. There's no equivalence here. There's no "Trump-Cruz feud" over each other's wives. The anti-Trump super PAC may have "started" the fight, but the responsibility for escalating the attacks to beyond the bounds of decency falls, as it often has in this election, on Trump and Trump alone.

No...Trump and Cruz had this planned. It distracts the media. Donald Im sure sent Heidi flowers saying “dont take it personal. Its so funny, you can see them smirking as they create a smoke screen for the media.

Donald needs to learn when to let things go.

His ongoing fight with Megyn Kelly and his fight with Cruz over the wives should embarrass him.

That may be OK in the rough and tumble of New York. But a potential President needs to maintain higher standards.

“Trump, Not Cruz, Escalated ‘Wife Fight’”

That's correct. Cruz started this garbage and Trump fought back.

No one in the MSM has publicly said anything about Cruz’s problem though they all seem to have known about it. My take is they have been waiting for a future opportunity to bring him down.

It is not in the best interest of the country to elect a person to office that can be controlled or can be subjugated through black mail.

So ... STARTING this is all well and good ...

but RESPONDING to it is “beyond the pale”?

Trump should avoid all of this personal nonsense.

Trump's responses to Rubio’s personal attacks were not good.

Trump's responses to the attacks on his wife are not good.

Trump needs to take the high road.

Very weasily kind of wording - why emphasize “escalate” when the real issue is who STARTED it. It was #CruzSexScandal.

BS. Cruz’ failure to loudly denounce the attack on trump means he owns the initial attack. Trump just punched back. No respect for Cruz anymore. Zip Zero Nadda.

Cruz implied Melania’s not fit to be 1st lady. Far worse than showing angry pic of Heidi.

” ... Trump supporters have either tacitly approved of Trump’s attack or ignored it.”

And Cruz either tacitly approved of or, for several days, chose to ignore the ad that the NeverTrump group peddled. To claim that he didn’t know about the ad until after half the country knew about it is absurd; the claim is either an Obama-style lie or it shows that Cruz is clueless. Take your pick.

Anyone who think that Cruz did not have advance knowledge if not full approval of the Utah ad, has never worked for a national campaign and is naive. They cleared it with the campaign as it was a pro-Cruz ad.

Google #thething. The Cruz story has been floating around the Political Class for quite some time, they just didn’t know when the trigger would be pulled and by who.
