Hoping to prove a point about the ease of buying guns online, a Tennessee lawmaker brought a newly purchased assault rifle to work Wednesday.

Rep. Mike Stewart said he found the AR-15 style weapon online Tuesday and picked it up in a restaurant parking lot without submitting to a background check, according to The Tennessean.

SFW! You coulda' gotten one from a newspaper ad or just bs'n with one of your buddies too asshat. Private sales of ones own property to another is none of the govt's business. Well, in most places. Coming (maybe) soon to Nevada on the '16 ballot. (Well, it's on the ballot. Let's see how easy nannie bloomers and the mommunists sell it to the clueless) So, if I need some gunsmithing done and I take a firearm to a gunsmith, when it's ready for pick up a background checks required for me to obtain my property back? Guess I better learn me some gunsmith skills.

And how much did he pay for it? That’s possibly the only relevant point ...

People can buy books, especially including Bibles, and printers and printing presses online also. This is what rights are all about; the lawmaker is representing that this is somehow a problem.

I didn’t realize an AR-15 was an “assault rifle”...
Btw, isn’t the purchase of a handgun when a background check is required?
Is a background check required when you go into Cabela’s and buy a hunting rifle?

From my perspective, it is a GREAT country indeed that affords a citizen the ability to purchase personal protection without interference from government Jackboots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“I’m basically as well armed as when I was a soldier in the military,” he added. ..

He paid what it costs in part for me to build one brand new. And that's with the glut of parts on the market now. I have build them for a lot more in cost just a few years ago. But now, at least this whiny punk is well armed fro what's coming.

“Luckily, I am not a member of a drug cartel. I am not on a terrorist watch list,” Stewart said after bringing the gun to a House Civil Justice Subcommittee meeting. “I am not a longtime criminal with a big record of felony convictions and violence.”

Yeah, because that's always stopped those bad guys from getting weapons, or making homemade bombs, etc.

So of all the non self defense gun carnage in TN, how much of it involved one of these AK-15s?

My guess: down in the noise.

TN does tend to be open about RKBA. For a while (I need to update my locale) I lived in the Nashville area. Lots of shooting galleries (if that’s your yeehaw you could be in gun heaven — I sometimes wished, but never had the budget to spare). Billboards about gun shows, months in advance. Nobody could miss it.

Official homicide rate? Per capita, about 1/4 that of Chicago. Gang bangers don’t dare get too frisky here.

Thousands of illegals are allowed into this country every week, or is it daily?

Millions of terrorist brethren are allowed to sit around watching TV and live off the government everyday.

The bible says that bums who refuse to work are related to terrorists.

Ever wonder why Dems love bums and terrorists so much?

I know a guy that legally bought whiskey, got drunk and killed four people with his car. He had a previous DUI.. Maybe liquor stores should start doing background checks.

Has he already used it to assault someone? Does he have pictures of the assault he committed? If so I guess it is an “assault rifle” when in his hands.

Significantly more assaults are done with guns that look very different from the weapon he has.

After the Korean conflict, one could mail order an M1 Carbine straight to the front porch.

Hmm, what else can you buy in a parking lot? You can get heroin, crack cocaine, a hooker. Oh, they aren’t legal for sale or trade.... Mmm. I see no problem with the rifle.
