Bennett said the campaign has planned two distinct phases for winning in an open convention.
First, there is a window to lock down delegate commitments between the last primary on June 7 and the convention start on July 18.
"You've got 40 days between the last primary and the convention," Bennett said, "to go woo the appropriate number of unbound delegates." It's a long time if the gap is small.
"You still have a chance to put together 50 or 75 delegates to win on the first ballot," Bennett said. "That's Phase One."

The challenge for the Trump campaign will be closely tracking which delegates want to bargain, and what the campaign can deliver in return.
One campaign operative, who joined Trumps convention team during the primaries, expressed surprise at that effort already in the works.
"I think the mistaken impression is that they werent playing by the traditional rules before," said the campaign staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "One of the pleasant surprises I had, when I joined, was that the state directors were already engaged in the process."
Nice of msnbc to keep up with it. /s/
Nothing earth shattering
Just common sense, MSNBC should try it sometime
Morning Joe reported Trump/s got a cracker jack team of four seasoned Repub operatives that are assigned to doing the pre-convention groundwork.
Trump got his team from a cracker-jacks box?
At least 100,000 pitchfork wielding supporters in the streets of Cleveland. THAT is his plan.
My guess is that Trump’s the commander-in-chief of a veritable army of cracker jack teams.
MSNBC seems surprised that Trump can look forward and see a problem, and then actually act to avoid the problem.
The trouble for MSNBC is that they believe their own BS, that anyone with an “-R” after their name is as dumb as a box of rocks. Trump may not be a seasoned politician, but he’s been playing political games for over 40 years to get the dozens of approvals necessary for every single building project with which he’s been involved. He plays 3-D chess, but these morons think that tiddly winks is above Trump’s capacity.
I stated-—pure speculation-—that I thought Trump’s group had already contacted every single Carson, Christie, and Fiorina delegate and every Virgin Islands delegate and likely had a majority of them in their back pocket should they need them.
Every move D/T makes is awesome.
The GOPeers are gonna be sweating bullets from now til the convention.
Happy thought, eh?

TRUMP BALLOT SECURITY PROJECT
Committee to Restore Americas Greatness PAC
FR Posted 3/19/16 by Albion Wilde
The Trump Ballot Security Project (TBSP) was formed when the main stream media reported dozens of voting irregularities in the Texas Republican primary. This ultimately totaled over 600 reports in at least six counties including Dallas County and Travis County. In virtually every case votes cast for Donald J. Trump were tallied for Senator Marco Rubio.
(NOTE:CRUZ IS STEALING DELEGATES LEFT AND RIGHT
<><> the Iowa fiasco where Cruz stole Ben Carson/s delegates by lying saying Carson was dropping out, telling supporters to caucus w/ Cruz.
<><> Even though @realDonaldTrump won delegates in Texas the @TedCruz- @georgepbush #RickPerry cabal is refusing to slate Trump supporters.)
<><> In Utah w/ Beck and Romney running the show, the Cruz team emailed supporters the day of the caucus, telling them they can vote absentee that day. This is in violation of state law.
===========================================
The TBSP established a Toll Free number to collect further reports of voter irregularities.
Almost immediately there were over 300 complaints from Oklahoma. Only a week later the Kansas and Maine Caucuses brought hundreds of more complaints including claims of double voting by supporters of Sen. Ted Cruz.
Now we are focused on Arizona, Utah, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California. To the extent possible, we are attempting to place trained poll watchers in those counties with a recent history of voter fraud.
The Trump Ballot Security Project is committed to investigating all complaints of voter fraud. In the event a pattern can be determined, the seating of these delegations can and will be challenged before the Credentials committee of the Republican National Convention.
We have dispatched lawyers and election law experts to all of the states mentioned above to investigate and document voter fraud. NOTE The Trump campaign is not currently devoting resources to this important function.

Yes!
Every move of his is smart and strong.
Never thought I’d see anything like this.
Apparently you have some fantasy notion of who “Convention Delegates” are. They are elected by each State’s GOP State Convention, who got to the State Convention from GOP County “Party Elections” before the Primary, not picked from among Trump supporters after the Primary.
Delegates may or may not have any propensity toward Trump, but its certain they were not picked because they were openminded to Trump’s uncivil anti-conservative, anti-Republican bullying campaign.
Trump knew from the gitgo that he had to “run the table” to win 1237 before the Convention, otherwise he’ll fair no better than did RonPaul in any 2nd or subsequent balloting.
If these delegates wish to shoot themselves and the country in the foot they are welcome to it.
I think Donald has tapped into a goldmine of votes w/ the NATO thing.
All sides of the aisle are gonna get in line w/ someone who/s intrested in their safety.
I’ll be there, already scheduled time off work for it. Cleveland is a five hour drive for me, no reason not to be there.
In OH, the GOP delegates are taken from among the supporters of that candidate only. So a Cruz or Yeb supporter would never be eligible to be a Trump delegate.
Makes it sound like Cruz won’t be doing the same thing and is not entitled to do so. Trump feels entitled to the nomination no mater what the delegate count is.
One thing I have not seen about the convention is that there is always some challenge to having some delegates seated. If Trump needs 100 delegates to have a majority; then a successful challenge not to seat 100 delegates is the same as needing only 50 delegates to get a majority.
