As Guy mentioned in his post, President Obama explained again yesterday why he decided to watch baseball alongside Raul Castro, do the wave, and chat with folks from ESPN. It had to do with not letting the terrorists disrupt our daily lives, while channeling how Boston pressed on following the marathon bombing in 2013, specifically how they taught the country a lesson by grieving, catching those responsible, and then getting on with their day-to-day activities, like shopping. He mentioned this in a joint press conference with Argentinian President Mauricio Macri yesterday; Argentina is part of the president's planned Latin American trip.
Obama Praised People Shopping Post Boston Marathon Terrorist Attack
One of my proudest moments as president was watching Boston respond after the Boston Marathon attack because they taught America a lesson. They grieved; I was there for the memorial. We apprehended those who had carried this out, but a few days later folks were out shopping.
Its funny he should mention shopping since he criticized President Bush for encouraging the exact same thing following the 9/11 attacks during his first presidential campaign in 2008.
The clip shows Obama noting how we all felt the loss of that day; how we rallied behind President Bush; pride in how our first responders reacted to the tragedy; and got a renewed sense of patriotism in the aftermath of the loss.
In 2008, Obama Attacked President Bush For Saying Americans Should Shop Post 9/11
We were ready to step into the strong current of history and answer a new call for our country, but the call never came. Instead of a call to service, we were asked to shop.
When theres no good reason to explain why you decided to do the wave with an authoritarian dictator, who had locked up dozens of people prior to your arrival, in the midst of a serious terrorist incident, I guess that chances of you saying something absurd rise dramatically. As a world leader, sometimes circumstances demand that you skip the baseball game and try to address the current situation. Obama didnt. Hes got full-blown senioritis, and despite what he says about ISISthe fact he decided to stay at a baseball game while Brussels burned shows he isnt the least bit interested in doing anything serious. This is something hes going to pass off to the next president. In this instance, with the shopping references to demonstrate how hes channeling his inner Boston, its a weak sauce explanation with a touch of hypocrisy.
We should have gone on a shopping FRENZY after Pearl Harbor
that would’ve showed ‘em :)
He didn’t let them interfere with his dancing schedule either!
Two weeks after the event I was trying to get in the underground parking lot at the Galleria shopping mall in Cambridge. Some clown security guard wanted to search my trunk as I entered. Had to tell him to go f** himself. The security theater in that area was pathetic.
Obama has encouraged shopping these past 7 years....for guns. Best salesman ever.
IIRC the city was shut down, paralyzed.
Don’t remember for how long but it was several days.
Obama is forgetting that his number 1 job is to keep the US and it’s citizens safe
Really, there’s something wrong with him.
Obama is a jihadi. Is that something wrong with him?
Ya, I was thinking the same. The liberals criticized Bush for allegedly telling us to go shopping after 9/11, as part of getting back to normal.
But, we see, the liberals have no consistent criteria. If Obama says or does something, it’s ok. If Bush or some Republican says the same thing, it’s NOT ok.
I can’t believe Obama is so simplistic about the Muslim-Western conflict that he downplays it to a social class issue:
—One of the great strengths of the United States, and part of the reason why we have not seen more attacks in the United States, is that we have an extraordinarily successful, patriotic, integrated Muslim community. They do not feel ghettoized. They do not feel isolated. Their children are our childrens friends, going to the same schools.
They are our colleagues in our workplaces. They are our men and women in uniform, fighting for our freedom. So any approach that would single them out or target them for discrimination is not only wrong and un-American, but it also would be counterproductive, because it would reduce the strength the antibodies that we have to resist terrorism, Obama said.
Obama was essentially saying US Muslims are “Better off” than “EuroMuzzies” but he’s naive. There is a palpable percentage of all Muslims who have a philosophical hatred for Western values and they WILL commit terrorist acts now and in the future.
He’s also overlooking the fact that most of the terrorists aren’t necessarily “unsuccessful.”
Ahhhhh. the explains the incident of workplace violence at Forth Hood: They are our colleagues in our workplaces....”
It tends to make one think that the black bastard muzzi approves of their attacks on Americans.
Isn’t it obvious?
WTF? The city and it’s environ’s were shut down, militarized and no on could leave their home. “Shelter in Place” became the new meme via that pu**y Devil Patrick (former bath house boy- just a guess.. but) from Chicago. He was racially assaulted by a thrown Coke can at 12 and has been “traumatized” since then.
The beginning of “MIlitarization”.
Got in my car and drove away.
