Conservative Tribune ^ | 03/24/2006 | NA

When the Ford Motor Co. decided to move jobs south to Mexico so that it could pay its workers less, billionaire businessman Donald Trump was furious. He made trade inequalities and Ford’s betrayal of American workers a central issue of his campaign.

And, without his even being in the Oval Office, it worked.

In an interview with CNBC, Ford CEO Mark Fields said that the automaker would be “here to stay.” He also said he had outlined his company’s plans in a letter to Trump.

We should make every business send Trump a plan of action and if it includes getting any parts or labor outside of the United States President Trump should shut them down.

This would be great for the economy.

Another reason not to believe the polls this early is that many things can happen in the next 8 months.

Let’s play what if.
What if Hillary is indicted?
What if Hillary has another stroke?
What if there is another terrorist attack in America that kills over 3000 people?
Those might change the vote.

Let’s nominate the winner of the actual voting process instead of the winner of a hypothetical poll paid for by Hillary supporters.

Trump has not even started laying into that witch Hillary.

He’s not a faint-hearted wallflower, like Mittens Romney.

So don’t worry.

“On this day in 1981, President Ronald Reagan fired more than 11,000 air traffic controllers who ignored his order to return to work. The sweeping mass firing of federal employees slowed commercial air travel, but it did not cripple the system as the strikers had forecast.

Nice try.”

The air traffic controllers were, after all, federal employees. He had every right to fire them. What is your point? I am not trying to be sarcastic or confrontational. I am simply trying to understand.

“But we are not seeing pure capitalism .. we are seeing an oligarchy and it is getting worse everyday. Our politicians have sold the us down the river for chump change.”

I have heard it called “mercantilism,” the partnership of government and business to enrich themselves at the expense of the rest of the population.

This is what Marx called “capitalism,” and it is as unjust as the crap he came up with.

Liberty is the antidote.

They were stolen by unethical and illegal means, while we sat congratulating ourselves on our rectitude.

> the media didn’t make up 50 plus million voting for Obama twice.

The media certainly influenced that result with nary a word of honest criticism of Obama and almost constant bashing of Palin, Romney, and every GOP candidate that ran in those elections. So spare me the media is innocent mantra. The media is complicit, the polls are manufactured to sway the mind numb public into believing the narrative of the day. “Journalism” is the left’s tool and the enemy of having an honest debate. They should be turned off, ignored, and dismantled from having such influence in choosing national leadership.

I don’t think Trump is the president. We have a kenyan currently filling that position.

***That said, I’m not sure that a government official chastising a corporation is the way I’d like to see it handled.***

So you’re ok with the fact that Reagan fired federal employees but Trump can’t criticize the CEO of Ford? Give me a break.

And by the way, I’m not saying Reagan was wrong. But you’re acting like Trump through the guy in jail or something. He’s not even President. Yet.

Hadn’t heard the term mercantilism before, so I looked it up. I think this is what France uses quite a bit.

..promoted governmental regulation of a nation’s economy for the purpose of augmenting state power at the expense of rival national powers...

forbidding colonies to trade with other nations;
monopolizing markets with staple ports;
banning the export of gold and silver, even for payments;
forbidding trade to be carried in foreign ships;
subsidies on exports;
promoting manufacturing through research or direct subsidies;
limiting wages;
maximizing the use of domestic resources; and
restricting domestic consumption through non-tariff barriers to trade.

I agree, and was pointing out to another poster (lilflower?) that as federal employees, Reagan had the right to fire them.

In response to my saying that the President had no right/business to dictate to a private corporation how to run their business, the other poster posted a link to the story about Reagan firing the air traffic controllers.

I highlighted and underlined the "federal employees" part to make the point that it was a different matter.

OK, thank you for the adult response.

Maybe Lil Flower did not know that the controllers were federal employees.

Those cars produced in Mexico are destined for the US Market!

Actually, from what I've heard most of the Ford Mexico production is small, cheap cars (Fiesta, anyone?) headed for the Central and South American markets. These cars have the lowest profit margins and it's also smart to build them closer to where you're going to sell them.

The high-value, high-markup pickups and SUVs are staying here.

you’re right.

i’m voting no matter what.

But it’s infuriating at the same time.

Trump will have to do 24/7 to get rid of the misconceptions.

tiring but he has no choice .
