This is precisely why George W. Bush argued from 9/11 onward that it was necessary to use a forward strategy against terror networks like al-Qaeda and ISIS, using our military to fight terrorists on their home turf rather than having civilians defending against them on ours. The level of security needed to guarantee defense against terrorism is incompatible with open societies and free Western-style republics.

Partially true, but ignores immigration. GWB was willing to fight forward, but didn't recognize the threat from within, and made nice to Islamists while Muslims came inside the gates.

Minutes after these attacks occur the police raid apartments and arrest "suspected" ISIS terrorists. That means they have been under investigation long before the attacks happen. For all Dubya's faults he had it right. Kick the crap out of these thugs on their patches of sand. Without the will to take the fight to them one of two things will happen. Either Europe, where the most bloody wars in history have ocured will erupt in another world war, or more likely, ISIS walks in and plants their black flags on capital after capital while 'old' Europe does nothing. Sad to think Europe will be craving the Russian Iron Curtain to come shield them.
