If Republicans nominate Donald Trump as their presidential candidate, he would be the least popular major party nominee in at least three decades of Washington Post-ABC News polling.
Trump's unfavorable rating stood at 67 percent - two-thirds of all Americans - in a March Post-ABC poll, including 56 percent who had a "strongly" unfavorable impression of him. Just 3 in 10 had a favorable impression of Trump (15 percent "strongly").
American politicians tend to be more unpopular than usual these days, but it's hard to overstate how bad Trump's numbers are with all Americans. In fact, Trump's highly negative ratings appear to have no equal among major party nominees in presidential campaigns over the past 32 years.

The Trumpster forced the mainstream media idiots to cook up a desperation push poll!
Unpopular, but leading. Hmmmmm
On Twitter overnight pre-bombing they pulled up March 1980 polls where Reagan had 30% in national polls. LA Times and others.
The title is confusing
What does Trump’s unpopularity with voters have to do with the head of the KKK?
“If Republicans nominate Donald Trump as their presidential candidate, he would be the least popular major party nominee in at least three decades”.......
Guess you have been away for a while or ASLEEP. From what I have seen thus far, there is NO OTHER candidate that draws the people that Trump has, you don’t get those large crowds by being “unpopular”.
....keep telling yourself that Emi.....then in Nov. we can hear you say something profound : “I don’t understand”
Outside of 30% of the Republicans party he IS extremely unpopular.
So, does a free membership to the kkk come with a vote for Trump? That’s how the LPOS/IPOS/SPOS/UPOS see it. Yet when hildebeast gets and endorsement from the grand lizard in Cali, not a peep. Crickets..................
Three whole decades? Hmmm, who was the Republican nominee thirty years ago?
More evidence of panic in certain quarters. I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
Sorry “Deer Stand”, my response was directed towards Emily Duskin (The article author)
The poll in the article measures unpopularity amongst the general public. Not presidential preference.
The good news for Trump is Hillary is almost just as unpopular. The results could be people stay home and then it becomes a case of who can get their enthusiastic voters out on election night
Outside of 30% of the Republicans party he IS extremely unpopular.
Not only is he unpopular with the general public, he’s one of the most unpopular candidates running since they’ve been measuring unpopularity of candidates.
Still, he can still win in Nov.

No, his supporters only see through Trump’s eyes and dismiss all else. He would never consolidate the base and certainly not win the general if the nominee.
Unpopular and losing to Hilary Clinton in like 50 out of the last 54 polls st RCP stretching back nearly a year and doing worse against Hilary than any of the other major candidates.
Heck, El Trumpo is even getting clobbered by communist Bernie Sanders.
Exactly 2 points higher then Hillary’s unfavorables
Yep. Reagan was behind 29% to Carter in March 1980. He was the “worst” candidate who would “destroy the Republican party” according to the establishment then.
