The American College of Pediatricians has issued a statement urging “educators and legislators to reject all policies that condition children to accept as normal a life of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex.” The statement offers eight reasons why such impersonation is harmful and should be rejected in preference to treatment based on biological reality:
1. Human sexuality is an objective biological binary trait: “XY” and “XX” are genetic markers of health – not genetic markers of a disorder.
2. No one is born with a gender. Everyone is born with a biological sex. Gender (an awareness and sense of oneself as male or female) is a sociological and psychological concept; not an objective biological one.
3. A person’s belief that he is something he is not is, at best, a sign of confused thinking.
4. Puberty is not a disease and puberty-blocking hormones can be dangerous.
5. According to the DSM-V, as many as 98% of gender confused boys and 88% of gender confused girls eventually accept their biological sex after naturally passing through puberty.
6. Children who use puberty blockers to impersonate the opposite sex will require cross-sex hormones in late adolescence. Cross-sex hormones are associated with dangerous health risks including but not limited to high blood pressure, blood clots, stroke and cancer.
7. Rates of suicide are twenty times greater among adults who use cross-sex hormones and undergo sex reassignment surgery, even in Sweden which is among the most LGBQT-affirming countries.
8. Conditioning children into believing a lifetime of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex is normal and healthful is child abuse.
To put it in terms rabid leftists can understand “the science is settled.”

You’ve fallen into the language trap “they” have set for us.
There are only two sexes (sex being biological).
There are countless “genders” (gender being a social construct, and constrained only by the imagination).
“They” changed the language, so that we can’t think about these things clearly any longer. (To “them”, Orwell wrote instruction manuals.)
Gender is word for languages. :>)

I agree - it's great that these doctors are speaking out.
At the same time, the very fact that our society has degraded to the point where an organization of doctors needs to speak out about garbage like this is disturbing.
American College of Pediatricians (ACoP) is called “conservative” because they believe that the purpose of Pediatrics is medically caring for children.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has been taken over by leftists, who believe that the purpose of the organization is to advance the leftist agenda. They are not just liberal, but radical about it, one of the most radical medical organizations, to the point where parents need to ask which of the two organizations their Pediatrician belongs to.
It is to the point where if a Pediatrician belongs to AAP, you need to question their competency.
There are some guys with boobs and a closet-full of dresses who aren’t going to like this!
