The Twitter account for ESPNs SportsCenter sent out a tweet Sunday about Fidel Castros love of sports that was criticized for painting the Cuban dictator in a positive light.
Savior and scourge, Fidel Castro was many things to many people, the now-deleted tweet read. One thing all can agree on: He loved his sports.
Shockingly, a lot of people on Twitter didnt appreciate SportCenters humanization of a brutal despot.
Logan Dobson @LoganDobson So did many of the dissidents he had murdered,
Bonda @BenOndaTop @SportsCenter "Harsh Communist Dictator...But, he loved his sports! What a guy! Give him an ESPY for courage!" - ESPN
Glenn Ordway ✔ @GlennDOrdway Then why did so many Cuban athletes risk their lives to defect to freedom?
Marcus Hawkins @HawkinsUSA "Hitler's love for sports is too frequently overlooked as historians obsess over some questionable actions."
ESPN should really stick to sports...
It’s Disney.
For crony capitalists, the agenda is foremost when profits are bestowed by the regime.
ESPN is a charter member of the ObamaCult.
Worship of Hussein at all costs.
ESPN continues to distinguish themselves as moronic propaganda tools.
Sometimes the 30 for 30s are good but unless it is live sports I don’t watch the vapid PC four letter.
Fidle always wears sweats, doesn't that count?
..someday his name will also be etched in stone
Bomani Jones should get a lot more air time. That’s the ticket!
...sooner rather than later, I hope.
ESPN has always been on the left.
...in Hell.
That would be a shame since we wouldn’t be able to ‘pass’ on it would we.
thanks for reminding me, tomorrow i will return my dvr and cancel cable for the summer.......
And tonight’s highlights include a Michael Sam demonstration on how to put toothpaste back in the tube...
“Say what you will about Hitler but he loved the arts and lead the world in working to preserve artwork during world war 2.”
Yea, my attempt at satirizing his lameness.
Nazi Occupation of Prague and the statue of Mendelssohn
A few years ago I visited Prague and on one of the tours of the city was told this story. During the Nazi occupation, the German seat of power in Prague was the concert hall, a beautiful building with statues of famous composers adorning the roof. Heydrich ordered that the statue of Mendelssohn, a Jew by birth, be removed.
The workmen he sent up had no idea who Mendelssohn was as all of the statues were unlabeled so they removed the statue which appeared to have the largest nose, which transpired was actually Wagner, the anti-Semite German who was Hitler’s favourite composer.
