“the advancement of social justice was my driving reason for becoming part of your ministerial team “

A good socialist, I would guess.

On the contrary: A major aim of welfare reform was to ensure that low earners would always be better off in employment.

He apparently wanted to crack down on "disability" payouts, and that put him at odds with pols afraid of the liberal press cherry picking the real need cases from amonst the plethora of con artists.

I thought this guy was one of the more conservative frontbench Conservatives.

For him to resign from the cabinet over spending cuts and sound like a libtard while doing it....surprising and totally uncool.

He’s pissed off about Brexit, but the pretext is about “cruel” cuts to disabled bennies. The correct approach is, expulsion of all muzzies, Brexit, then, well, everything else will look small in comparison. :’) Thanks Impy.

He’s resigned over the EU and his outrage over spending cuts is just a pretext? How utterly bizarre.

Or perhaps it was the other way, and his support of Brexit wasn't the dealbreaker. He's a politician. Meanwhile, Cameron needs a new fall guy, Osborne's opposed to Brexit, and it's his budget that spells out those cuts. Regarding the overall ideology, the old joke is, Margaret Thatcher explaining UK politics -- "In Britain we have the Labour Party, which you would call the Socialist Party, and the Conservative Party, which you would call the Socialist Party."
