Ted Cruz has a significant lead over his two Republican challengers in the days leading up to the Utah caucuses and yes, that includes Donald Trump.
A Y2 Analytics survey released on Saturday shows Cruz with the support of 53 percent of likely Republican caucus-goers. If Cruz were to get at least 50 percent of the vote in Tuesdays caucus, hed capture all 40 of the states GOP delegates.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich came in second in the poll with 29 percent, and Trump followed him at 11 percent.
The survey also found that 64 percent of Utah Republicans believe Trump will weaken the Republican Party as its nominee. Among those who said they wouldn't support Trump in the Utah caucuses, a majority say they would be unable to vote for the GOP front-runner in November should he be the party's nominee.
Cruz has been campaigning in the state and won the endorsement of a close colleague, Utah Sen. Mike Lee. He also earned the support of 2012 nominee Mitt Romney, who told his Facebook followers on Friday that he was voting for Cruz in an effort to deny Trump a majority of delegates ahead of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
Trump, meanwhile, has launched a last-minute TV ad campaign against Cruz, spending roughly $160,000 on TV ads in the state ahead of Tuesdays contest.
Trump continued his assault on Cruz Friday night when he again accused the Texas senator of dishonesty and said Mormons dont like liars. A majority of Utah residents identify as Mormon around 62 percent, according to the latest U.S. Census figures.

And over twice the number of delegates.
Dallas and Travis Counties in TX are full bore Democrats who don’t support Cruz in any way.
GOOD!
well preached. A missionary to Free Republic is a calling of sorts
I will concede that Cruz will probably win Utah, but “Y2 Analytics Survey”???????
Mormon mafia. Funny how they don’t think Orrin Hatch “weakens the party” with his leftist views on illegal immigration
That's allTrump should've said, as he skipped the state and campaigned elsewhere. Instead he wasted time trying to reason with these imbeciles
Its a way to scam young chicks away from young men. Hunting outfitters from Jackson, WY (satellite outpost of Mormonism) had in their charge a 17 year old castoff boy they found in St George. His “father” as I pieced together was a hillbilly Mormon who worked his boy about 16 hours a day so as to drive him out of the cult so the old men of the local “church” could tap the young tight chickies without the competition.
Arizona winner take all is in Trump camp
So either wat Trump gets wins the night
How is Ted doing in New York?
Nah, he’s got to show his face there so as to limit Ted’s win. It’s WTA for the winner if they get more than 50% IIRC. Anything less is proportional split.
Mormonism has nothing to do with Christianity
—
Agree. They will promote it as Christianity to try to lure (and mislead) new members but it is not Christianity.
Wrong! Mormons DON'T like liars, that's why they are not supporting the world's biggest con man, Charlatan and liar, Donald Trump.
The Mormon factor took out Romney - so many disliked/distrusted Mormons.
Funny how the same folks that snubbed Romney because of Mormonism are rejoicing because their guy is loved by them (from listening to Romney's coming out for Cruz - ironic - no?) even though they claim to detest Mormons.
Trump probably won't do much about it and it probably won't matter - I see another article about how Cruz and Romney are teaming up against Trump about some comment or other - questioning Romney's faith as so many did now, but they will back Cruz (and Romney) now that it's trump who made the naughty remark...
Cruz will crush Trump by an even bigger margin come voting day. Cruz almost always vastly outperforms his poll numbers. In the primaries/caucuses held so far, Cruz has outperformed his poll numbers by an average of over 10%. Even higher in the causes and closed primaries.
>>Trump has a bigger lead in New York and its more than 15 times the population
The Cruztians say, “Bah. Not important. Look at Utah again!! Cruz or Luze, Dood!”
That’s all well and good, but Cruz, as a “naturalized” American citizen is not eligible for the office of POTUS. Here is the “Naturalization” law granting him citizenship:
Title III Nationality and Naturalization, Chapter 1 - Nationality at Birth and by Collective naturalization; Nationals and citizens of the United States at birth; the relevant section being 301 (a) (7):
“a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than ten years, at least five of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years: Provided That any periods of honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United States by such citizen parent may be included in computing the physical presence requirements of this paragraph.”
If Cruz is nominated, the Democrat Party will go to the federal courts to have Cruz disqualified. They do have standing.
It is disturbing that, Ted Cruz, an attorney and a man who claims to be a “principled conservative” and a staunch supporter of the Constitution, knows he’s not eligible, but still covets the office and the power.
Does that sound familiar?
And save your breath with the “birther” crap. A “naturalized” citizen is not a “natural born” citizen and all the blather in the world won’t change that.
Mormon is a cult.
