I remember that time so well. We were told that the outsider Reagan would go down to defeat. The Republican party establishment hated him. And he had been on TV which was just terrible. And I tell you the man had been divorced. There was no way he could win. It was hopeless.

And the end result was glorious. Just as it will be this time.

Did Reagan have the Republican party actively working against him at that time?

Oh yes. You and I remember the same thing. They called him a lunatic, dangerous, will start WW3 blah, blah, BLAH.

And Reagan would get us into a war. And he would cut off all welfare. Immigrants hated him and would hate us more. And what does an actor possibly know about foreign policy? Heaven forfend we elect such a one.

He was the best president in my lifetime.

Trump is NO Reagan! Trump doesn’t even come close to being Reagan. They can’t compare Trump to anyone we’ve ever had for president. Trump is a Progressive Populist.

Wow I was 16 at the time and was a big Reagan supporter, probably the first politician I ever supported, and I do remember all the heat he was getting. My brother had a Reagan bumper sticker on his car and his car got trashed so it seems times haven’t changed at all, let’s just hope Trump destroys Hillary in a landslide as well.

Are you comparing Trump to Reagan? Sheesh! Reagan was a gentleman. Trump is the most thin-skinned politician out there on the national scene. He has petty, childish reactions to virtually everything. (The exception that proves the rule is a couple of nice sentences he said about Rubio when he dropped out last week.)
