Flake:‘I Would Rather Have a Less-Liberal Nominee Like Merrick Garland’ than One Hillary Would Pick

Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) 45% explained his decision to meet with President Barack Obama’s nomination to fill the Supreme Court vacancy, Judge Merrick Garland.

Flake acknowledged GOP senators were doing the proper thing to put off any action on Obama’s pick, but added that in the event Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton should be elected president, Garland should be given consideration.

“I think that Republicans are doing the right thing,” Flake said. “We’re fully justified in saying, ‘Let’s wait until after the election to actually nominate someday or approve the president’s nomination.’ But I said yesterday that if Republicans are not successful in the November election – I hope we are – but if we are not, then we ought to look at this nomination in the lame-duck session in November. I would rather have a less-liberal nominee like Merrick Garland than a nominee that Hillary Clinton if she were president would put forward.”

“I’ve said from the very beginning that I would meet with him, but let me say, I hold the position that Republicans are justified – justified in doing what we’re doing before the election,” Flake added.

Some men in congress will do and say anything to get on TV. They must think it makes them look important. To the contrary, they have become so very useless... they have succeeded in making fools of themselves.

They consider conservatives too dumb to vote. But it’s the other way around... they are the ones who have no sense.

McCain’s probably convinced him ‘all is lost’... well ‘lost’ if McCain and his turncoats can sink Trump...

It doesn’t matter if Garland is a hard-core, flaming leftist like Obama, Bernie, and Hillary, or something of a more moderate liberal. Votes in the Supreme Court are digital, not analog. One is either for or against abortion, the Second Amendment, illegal immigration, etc. Even if Garland is not a left-wing ideologue, he can certainly be counted on to reliably echo the vote of the four Justices who are.

A no vote to gun rights or whatever is a no vote.

a far lefts no, counts just as much as a center lefts no.

Screw that. If the country elects Hillary we deserve what we get.

Hmm... lessee - I said that in 2008 and again in 2012, and here we are again.

Say what you want about how foul the Dems are. When it comes to Supreme Court fights, they go all out to win. They don’t play nice. They don’t respect the other side. They don’t respect the institution. They try to win. Or at least beat up the president and try to defeat at least one of his nominees before approving one. The Republicans are such wishy washy wimps. They are almost useless.

At least McCain seems to be holding firm: No SCOTUS nominee hearings.

As a former resident of AZ, I can assure you that McCain keeps his powder dry when he's running for re-election. Then, he reverts back to his disgusting self. That's his modus operandi.
