TIME TO DROP OUT? Ted Cruz Needs 87% of Remaining Delegates to Win Nomination
GP ^ | 03/17/16 | Jim Hoft

After Super Tuesday 2.0 Donald Trump is on track to secure the Republican nomination.

trump cruz 2

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) would need 87% of remaining primary voters to win the nomination.
It might be time for Ted Cruz to drop out and endorse Donald J. Trump?

The New York Times reported:

Donald J. Trump’s series of victories on Tuesday extended his delegate lead and forced Senator Marco Rubio of Florida out of the presidential race. Mr. Trump’s path to winning enough delegates to secure the Republican nomination is not assured, but he is in a strong position.

Here are some ways the Republican nominating contest could unfold. Try adjusting the sliders to see how the outcomes change. Each line in the chart represents one possible outcome.

If Mr. Trump maintains his current level of support in the remaining races, he would almost certainly secure the nomination.

After Tuesday’s contests, no other candidate retains a real chance of capturing the delegates required to win the nomination outright. Mr. Rubio dropped out, Gov. John Kasich of Ohio is too far behind, and Senator Ted Cruz of Texas would need to win the vast majority of the remaining delegates — a near impossibility.

I don’t care if Cruz quits ....not at all

If Trump were not self funding and spending much less anyhow than most front runners I’d say don’t waste campaign money....which Cruz and Kasich are doing now

I’m just arguing with these fantasies about Cruz winning outright or that Trump will never hit 1237

Both are canards pimped by FOX and Cruz and Kasich and the Levin Rove Beck Ryan Hume Kristol Erickson etc axis

But no ...shux....Ted can stay on the Ferris Wheel till next spring when the park reopens for all I care

Speaking of s**t, what exactly is Ted entitled to?

We all know he can’t do that, so what is it you’re fighting for?

If you're so confident Trump's going to win it all (as your previous posts have shown), what's the concern? Let the rest of the states have their say, count up the delegates and go from there. What are you Trump backers so fearful of?

I can’t disagree much with you - political wheeling and dealing is probably the 2nd oldest profession, and it isn’t going away.

I still think that you and a lot of others will be surprised with Trump’s judicial appointments. Its not an area that he’s an expert in, nor one that he likely wants to waste his time learning about when there are issues like national security, foreign policy, taxes, trade, etc. to deal with. He’s a business executive that is a master delegator, so he’ll hand off the lion’s share of that work to someone else...hopefully Cruz or someone of similar mindset. If Cruz plays his cards right, ONE of the things that he can do is to secure the ability to be Trump’s only or principal adviser on judicial appointments.

If you’re so challenged that you can’t see why it’s a fool’s game to tempt fate on the issue of a floor fight at the convention, why should I bother explaining anything to you?

You’ve already outed yourself as delusional. I’ll let you add ignorant to that on your own.

The real gang changer to stop Trump from going to 1237 is Cruz winning California but he would need a fair number of the rest of the 20 remaining

It’s a bridge too far

Ah, here it comes... the same old tired accusations. Your lines are tired ones, trumpette. I love the ones about "delusional." Fantasies of 40- to 50-state general-election sweeps come from the your side there, kid.

I'm loving the entertainment value of you trumpettes getting spun up at nonexistent boogeymen. Like I said... if you're so very confident in Trump's ability to win this, then sit back... have a beer... relax... and for God sakes.. bring it down a thousand.

Yep

You can see why he’s not real popular with his peers but in all fairness that is arguably a plus considering

Course now he’s the establishments only hope even as Cruziacs deny that notion

The Trumpsters want Kasich to stay in to keep votes away from Cruz. If Cruz were to drop out, they would then bang the drums for K-Sick to leave.

“Trump does not have a great history of following through on his promises”

Please think, instead of just repeating something that you heard from someone else with an ax to grind.

Donald Trump is in business, has been for just shy of 50 years. He’s dealt with thousands of people, and been in the public eye since the mid-1970s. If he was a liar, that fact would have long since come out, at the very least in the NYC business world, and he’d be a LOT less prosperous.

He CAN’T be that dishonest, it’d kill his business. Now, negotiating hard is another matter - but once he signs off on a deal, it is done.

Imagine how unglued they'd become if Rubio's delegates gravitated over to Cruz.

“So we shouldn’t let the other states weigh in? I’d be pissed if I was in California and I didn’t get a choice in who the party nominee is.”

Nobody is stopping you from voting. You can even do a write in for the candidate of your choice.

Does the exact wording of the rules require an majority of votes (ignoring disqualified “none of the above” votes), or a vote count equal to a majority of delegates regardless of how many cast a valid vote?

Yes.

Yes. They have that in common with the rabid left. Coincidence?

I don't think it is a coincidence. I think the reason they have that in common with the radical left is that they both have a warped view of reality.

I completely agree with you, and some folks have already switched from Cruz to Trump. However the Green Eggs & Ham people seem hell bent on seeing HRC living in the White House.
