If the GOP Establishment insists that it decides, not the voters, why have primaries at all? Why not just anoint the nominee in a backroom (like they typically do anyway) and not go through with the long, bitter charade?

They’d miss out on the revenue to the consultants, cable networks, advertising agencies, etc. It’s all a business.
