Donald Trump is going to be the Republican nominee for president. Breathe Its time for acceptance.
So that brings us to todays reality. Can the Republican front-runner, businessman Donald J. Trump, be reserved and palatable enough going forward to win the presidency in November?
Its a tough question. As with all such quandaries we must consult the classics for guidance. In this instance, I turn to the incomparable 1980 movie, Superman II, starring Christopher Reeve.

Did Mr. Shattuck express similar reservations concerning kryptonite with respect to candidate Obama?
Romney/McCain/Bush/Soros and the GOPe did everything they could to stop him and they failed.
If I were Trump, I would start dropping hints about a third party run.
It’s a very good analogy. I’m afraid Trump has already shown some signs of doing this, but perhaps he’s skilled and smart enough to do it only just enough necessary....and can do as Superman did, reverse the swap when he must...
The Donald will crush Zodhillary.
he doesn’t need to drop hints. He has the power and control
that power and control is what is feared and prompting all the nonsensical rumbling
Running as a third party candidate, or as a Republican, Trump cannot avoid losing in a landslide to Hillary.
The key question is which route leads to a more complete annihilation of the GOPe-led Republican Party. Whichever route leads to more down ballot losses among GOPe’ers like Ryan, Kirk, McCain, Johnson, Toomey, to name a few, is what I am hoping for.
The gist of this article is that the strategy and demeanor that has brought Trump all these amazing victories must be abandoned in order for him to win in the future. (???)
I can only hope Trump reads this, without the benefit of the Boston Herald’s great wisdom he might foolishly keep doing what he’s been doing - which I gather can only lead to certain defeat.
Kasich is the chosen one, “Trump hates women” is the chosen meme.
We’ll see. I don’t think Trump hates women - he might LIKE them a little too much, but, as with politicians, billionaires live in a different estrogen environment than we do.
However much he loves women, though, he may hate “women” - you know, ardent advocates of anti-masculinity. AND, he’s got a big mouth, and I’m sure there are lots of juicy quotes and asides on the subject out there.
It is said we think about sex every seven seconds. That sounds about right.
I hope Team Trump has the defense to this attack all scripted. They’re going to need it.
Glad to see that at least one other person actually read the brief article and got the actual point of this. Sheesh.
I love the way the sour grapes crowd thing they have an infallible crystal ball into all things poltical.
No what they have is a sever case of childish petulance because they are losing an election
Precisely! The last thing he needs to do is change tactics and “evolve” into a kinder, gentler kind of candidate like Romney, McCain, Dole, etc. I would be building petabytes of video in preparation for a massive assault against whomever the commiecrats nominate.
Right the guy turning out record number of GOP voters is going to “lead to the down ticket annihilation” of the GOP.
Just a remarkably ignorant argument.
Get lost. Who’s paying you to post this morning?
Oh, do you think the GOPe is going to let Donald Trump win the general?
No way!
They are going to backstab and sandbag Donald Trump until he loses just like they have done to others who are not part of their D.C. insider, Country Club clique - Sharon Angle, Chris McDaniel, Christine O’Donnell, Todd Akin, and Joe Miller just to name a few.
Kryptonite is whatever 51% of the pop culture and the media define it to be. The sad reality is that our culture is sick, indoctrinated into a set of twisted beliefs that preys on their ignorance, insecurities and inherent frailties. This cloud Trump is riding on through our primary, shielded from the kyptonite as defined by the entirety of our great unwashed, will soon become a bumpy road. His co-opting of establishment cronyism and universal health care might get him across the finish line but then we will have to live with those constitutional fatal flaws since we decided to set aside our integrity, proving once again that a democracy often gets the government it deserves.
Leave Todd Akin out of this list. He is a crackpot (Trust me. I know, I met him myself) He lost that election all by himself.
No. we're just reading the polls. Trump's personal vulgarity and ignorance aside, he is losing badly to both Hillary and Bernie in the polling. Trumpsters should understand this, because a big part of Trump's camapign to this point has been pointing to his plurality support in Republican primary polling. I understand the temptation to only look at polls you like, but that is suicidal.
Trump's national negatives are over 60 percent. He has virtually 100 percent name recognition, and very few people are undecided. He is down by double digits in the national polls and has very little upside potential. He has won pluralities because the GOP primary field is so divided, but any of at least ten of the others would have beaten him one on one.
I know Trumpsters don't care about any of this. For many of them, destroying the current Republican party is the objective, and gifting the election to Hillary, losing the Supreme Court for a generation, ensuring continuation of open borders, and enabling the consolidation of Obama's "transformations" are acceptable collateral damage.
Trumpsters may not care today, but they are going to wake up to a heckuva hangover come January 20, 2017.
Trump is a loser. The reality based community realizes this.
Because Hillary is not polarizing at all.
So that brings us to todays reality. Can the Republican front-runner, businessman Donald J. Trump, be reserved and palatable enough going forward to win the presidency in November?
If he acts like Romney and McCain, he’s a gonner. This author would like nothing better.
