Given the crossover votes in Ohio it is entirely possible democrats voted in the republican primary to support Kasich, who is basically Hillary without the pending indictments.

Given the crossover votes in OH...dems voting for Kasich...

I'm not sure that happened. It might have been worse if some blue-collar dems didn't vote for Trump. Kasich had a really excellent TV campaign; Trump's few ads got a bit stale and not specifically targeted to OH.

OH voters seem to vote pretty carefully. The reason it's a surprise is the only campaign gear and signage was pro-Trump. That might mean Trump voters are more enthusiastic; Kasich voters more loyal to keeping it in OH.

On Monday and Tuesday, Kasich had a whole lot of robocalls to get out the vote. Trump's campaign team was poor. Example, I've been a volunteer since day one, I held signs three weeks ago for a few hours. After that, the official campaign disappeared...I have to wonder how loyal they were.

Trump won the counties along the edges where there's no way Kasich advertising could sway them to believe the economy is in good shape. Trump didn't hit Kasich where it hurts the most....that local govs are being starved. New money goes to the state; any cuts affect local budgets. Kasich's top donor list should've gotten more exposure. Kasich's NAFTA support and big bank involvement got mentioned too little, too late. Trump didn't focus like a laser on Kasich embracing common core. He should be saying "no more Obamacare mandate".

Trump's campaigning in OH helped him big time. It forced Kasich to do most of his campaigning in state, so his results were a disaster everywhere else.

Just keeping it real here. I'm boringly analytical and proud of it!
