Trump breaks the ice with Congress
Washington Examiner ^ | 3/15/16 | Susan Ferrechio

The icy relationship between Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump and Republican leaders in Congress may be starting to thaw.

Both House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Tuesday discussed having positive phone conversations with Trump after weeks of refusing to even mention the business mogul by name.

In both cases, Trump picked up the phone first.

"Donald Trump called this morning and we had a good conversation," McConnell told reporters Tuesday. "I appreciated his call."

You guys bring a pin to a knife fight, a knife to a gun fight, a gun to a bazooka fight, a bazooka to a howitzer fight and a howitzer to Armageddon. You are fools, one and all. We the people brought Trump to you. You are fools for not swearing fealty and accepting we changed the paradigm. We bring Armageddon to a pin fight.

Excellent. Spot on. So many FReepers have been taken to the cleaners. Pathetic is that they don’t know it. Let the RINOization begin! Let the “deals” begin. Their gonna be yuuuuuuuuge.

Are you proud of saying that? Are you happy to be utterly vile in your uncalled-for post attacking a great FReeper in longstanding? I mean, sheesh, who died and made you Jim Thompson? Vey series.

It was all so predictable, the king of crony has sold out even before he’s nominated

???????? For someone with the intellectual abilities that you have so eloquently expressed over the years (I have enjoyed many of the posts you have put on the pages of FR as interesting, insightful and educational), you also appear to be capable of literally losing it when it comes to Trump (unless your quip was in jest). All the main candidates have talked with Congress. The eventual President will have no choice but to work with the Congress. A smart manager/leader is not afraid to make first contact even though he knows he's entering a hostile environment.

How exactly has he "sold out"?

Note that the article mentions that Ryan and them said they got good responses from Cruz, Rubio, and "even Trump". He has them scared - don't you want the GOPe to be scared of the next President?

Now there's a statement to ponder on.

“In both cases, Trump picked up the phone first.”

Any doubt about who’s in charge?

This is inevitable and necessary. Trump has got to get the party to coalesce around him. He is at this point trying to reassure them that he is a perfectly rational guy and is not going to burn down the house. I’m glad Trump is reaching out and he needs to get the nod so he can start calling for Cruz to drop out and maybe get some of the rest of the party to do it also. We dont’ need to drag this mess out til June because Lyin Teddy can’t face reality.

Lyin Teddy.???

You mean that lie he told about Cruz University being still in business and getting an A rating rather than the D that we all heard about.

Oh wait. That wasn’t Cruz University. It was some other university. Sorry to bother you.

Hey I know its tough to find out that your candidate is not as severely conservative as you thought. Then to find out he is not really an outsider and has the jeb staff and ex criminal brother Neil on board is really a beach. Top that off with a Dominionist father who has been telling him he’s the 7th King his whole life and an endorsement by Stabby the Klown and its just depressing. LOL!

Just to finish this off, it was never leaked out, it was the Cruz campaign that claimed it was leaked out to be one of their fake talking points.

Now, since your condescension and incomprehension has been so huuuuuuge. I will end this conversation with one of your condescending stereotypes. I hope you have a sense of humor, but I doubt it.

Enjoy your Senator from Canada. LOL!

For the uneducated over educated, that WAS a slam on the condescending inanity of most Cruzers, who think they're really, really, really smart, except when they're not.....

LOL indeed!!! But the joke is on somebody else who is looking for a real conservative and coming up way, way, way short.

Former Democrats who win Primary elections with margins supplied in many cases by Democrats, who lie repeatedly about the status and rating of his "University", who trash their opponents and then, to get their support at the convention, embrace and entice them, who propose to tax Americans who want to buy foreign goods and hand that money to Congress for whatever foolish use they currently favor do not qualify in my mind a conservative in any sense.

Donald J. Trump is exactly what most of the Freepers have been looking for. Teddy not so much. LOL!

++++
Apparently.

An ex-Democrat New York $Billionaire who wants to raise the sales tax on imported goods, a step that would drain tens of $billions from the economy in the process. A guy who lies about the status and rating of his defunct and failed “University”. A guy who calls Ben Carson incurably pathological one week and treats him like a brother the next.

You are right. He’s a perfect choice for the Freepers..

Thanks for the kind words. Keep in mind that comity allows a conversation to be had.

I basically agree with several if not most of your points about Trump’s political views. I’ve never argued here or elsewhere that he was the “most” conservative candidate running. He isn’t. I might argue that he is not the most conservative, but the most conservative running who has a snowball’s chance of both being elected and implementing something remotely resembling a conservative agenda. But even that’s not the issue from my perspective.

I do suspect that we approach this with different questions in mind. If I might be so bold as to suggest the question you’re seeking to answer is “which candidate offers the best and most conservative campaign?”

The question that concerns me is “which candidate has the best chance of preventing a second civil war?”

“They are on the way out.”

They will only leave if forced.

They will only relinquish power seized from them. By force.

They have a lot of money to ‘make things happen’ still. Gnome sayin?

Note to self: buy more ammo
