I picked 1630 out of a hat, because I couldn’t recall the exact year my ancestors arrived at Jamestown; all the papers are in a box stored somewhere.

If it was 1630, they missed the starving time and both Powhatan wars which was good, but the best arable land anywhere nearby would have already been granted, so they likely had to forge their way inland into the wilderness unless they were tradesmen, merchants or such.
