The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has declared that he is withdrawing the majority of Russian troops from Syria, saying the intervention had largely achieved its objective.
The news, relayed to the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, personally, followed a meeting in the Kremlin with Putins defence and foreign ministers. He said the pullout, reducing an intervention that began at the end of September, is due to start from Tuesday.

Suggest that -
In Syria the Russians are vulnerable to a really pissed off Turkey. They are in a better position to lean on the Turks from Armenia.
This whole foreign intervention thing is expensive, and Russia is feeling the pinch of low oil/gas prices.

This is bad news for the US. Putin didn’t completely finish off ISIS, so Obama will re-arm them and they will grow stronger than ever before. Obama must be pleased as punch.

the intervention had largely achieved its objective.
- ISIS has been damaged significantly
- Assad is still in power
- Obama has been outed to the world as the muslim terrorist loving pussy that he really is

Ukraine next?
Russians still can not find “Ukrainian separatists” under masked Putin’s thugs.
Ukrainian speaking citizens of Siberia’s Gulags are getting ready to break away from Russia.

This whole foreign intervention thing is expensive, and Russia is feeling the pinch of low oil/gas prices. Losing a commanding position on the European natural gas market is even more expensive. The Saudis want to build a pipeline through Syria and into Europe.
Plus, ice-free port on the Med.
I'm no Putinista, but it seemed to me that all the Russians were doing was wasting the murderous crazies that we wouldn't, and pissing off Erdogan- which I understand. They weren't messing with the Israelis or doing anything seriously sketchy that I'm aware of.
