A history of support for free-trade deals by Ted Cruz and his wife, Heidi, is dogging the senators campaign in the important winner-take-all Ohio GOP presidential primary, especially since the Cleveland Plain Dealer has just reported that the state lost 112,500 jobs last year because of the U.S. trade deficit with countries in the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement.
A CNN poll on Wednesday showed Donald Trump leading in Ohio, with 41 percent, over John Kasich, at 35 percent. Cruz was in third, with 15 percent.
The Cruz campaign on Thursday told WND that the senator supported Congress giving President Obama Trade Promotion Authority, TPA, generally known as Fast Track. It would allow the White House to push the Trans-Pacific Partnership, TPP, through Congress in an up or down vote with limited debate and no amendments.
But the campaign said Cruz always has opposed the TPP and supports TPA only because he favors free trade generally.
However, on April 22, 2015, Cruz co-authored with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc, then chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal that endorsed TPP and its sister Trans-Atlantic Partnership.

Play free trade games, win free trade prizes.
Chickens + home = roost.
Ted Cruz calls people who don’t vote for him “low information voters” and then turns around and says he’s going to bring blue collar jobs back to America with a flat tax.
Unreal.
Ted can Beat Hillary though? Where
Kasich embraces it. Cruz’s evolving position on it puts him in the middle of the road.
Cruz shot himself in the foot with his statement
regarding the protesters.
Serious misstep and one that will cost him the
nomination.
Ted beats Hillary in the same globalist-funded psyops “projections” where Trump loses the general to Che Guevara by 40 points. Those polls are so transparently ludicrous... every GOP candidate beats every Dem candidate in every possible matchup... except Trump? The absurdity of it all should be enough to make anyone question the validity, even if you forget that these are the SAME EXACT polls that were used to “encourage” Republicans to nominate Mitt Romney.
As a Cruz supporter I concur. I was appalled at his statement about the attack upon Trump’s rally. Ted some advice, never side with dim protesters. They are communists. But I repeat myself. Ask your dad about communists and how they operate Ted.
Anyone that votes for the TPA is in favor of the TPP.
The entire reason the TPA exists is because the TPP could not pass congress.
It also gives congress cover, like Cruz, to say he is against the TPP. This is even though he was originally for it until he caught enough heat from his supporters.
Why else would Cruz make it easier to pass the TPP Agreement. He’s a lying Bush slug!
Remember Freepers this is the same guy that blames Trump for Black Lives Matter and Move On dot Org attacking his rally.
Cruz CANNOT BE TRUSTED. He’s a Trojan Bush Rat in my estimate.
the piece is a fearter in he wind
Cuuz has no chance and never really has had any chance in Ohio
If trump beats the well liked favorite son, that is a tremendous testimony to his appeal
MSNBC is using Cruz statements on Trump telling his people to raise their hands in a pledge (in fun) as a warning against authoritarianism. What a major turnoff!
Sort of like anti ethanol subsidies killed him in Iowa? Maybe some voters are principled?
He isn't well liked. The dems ran a laughably flawed candidate against him. It's more that Kasich's flaws are well-known and there's no point in electing anyone with those flaws plus some.
OH voters aren't stupid. I'd guess any support he's gaining is folks seeing an advantage in having their guy in DC.
it was reported just this week he had 83% favorability as governor
It’s really hard to believe that 83% favorability. I wonder how the question was phrased.
Of course Teddy supports TPP. His wallstreet masters told him to.
TPA gives this president or the next president an opportunity to negotiate an international trade deal and then have it voted up or down with no amendments. It is as simple as that. International trade deals are complicated agreements that would fall apart if put to the whim, bickering and amendments of the US Senate only to be sent back to the international bargaining table to be renegotiated. If every country at the table did this, there would never be an agreement. TPA gives the Senate the ability to say yes or no. It does not approve TPP or insinuate approval of TPP.
Kasich badly damaged himself with NAFTA and TPP and rubbed feces in the wound by backing the disruptors. I think any support he gets now will be from the "But he's OUR bastard." contingent.
