Let’s scrap the GOP and start over
Washington Post ^ | 3/11/2016 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 03/11/2016 12:06:14 PM PST by mcjordansc

The lowest moment of last night — maybe the lowest of the election and in the history of the GOP — came before the debate, when Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus pledged that the RNC “is going to support the nominee, whoever that is, 100 percent...”

The sort of soulless, amoral stance displayed last night toward a figure as dangerous as Trump suggests that whether Trump becomes the nominee or not, a new center-right party is required, one that specifically rejects Trumpism.

I agree too, but for different reasons.

This is just Washington Post pulling the political equivalent of “I’m taking my ball and going home”.

Vote Splitting. Hillary Clinton’s route to the Oval Office.
- Nope. IF TRUMP is the fair & square nominee, I will walk
barefoot over rough gravel to get to the polls & vote for
him. - (I voted Cruz in primary.) - Perfection is not to be
found in this realm; not with Cruz, not with Rubio. - I also
respect Ben Carson’s opinion.

Jennifer Rubin and Beltway idiots like her supported McCain, Romney, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio and now they’re climbing aboard Ted Cruz’s sinking campaign.

These people wouldn’t know how to win if you showed it to them. They’re pathologically enraged at Trump for making collective fools out of them.

The smartest people in Washington are clueless and they just go along with whoever they fancy. Their contempt for the American people is as astounding as their rigid refusal to come to terms with reality.

Rubin has been a GOP'er for less than a decade and now, because her guy didn't win, wants to take the ball and go home.

Isn't this the same thing, that when Trump floated it, had everyone guffawing and up in arms?

Funny what happens when the establishment loses....

Trump is the only GOP candidate who will help them make inroads into middle class Democrat voting with his position on job giveaways through trade. They better take advantage of this or continue to suffer election loss for the foreseeable future.

The middle class is up for grabs as Sanders is showing in the Democrat primaries. The GOP acts like working people stink and don’t belong in ‘their’ country club party. Wake up GOP, it’s time to broaden your view. Hold your nose, if you must, but vote for Trump. It’s your future. Even if Trump don’t win, you have staked out your claim to the middle class in the future.

Yup.

The Washington Beltway crowd demanded and got a pledge of loyalty from Trump when he ran.

But they don’t consider themselves bound by a similar pledge.

The contortions they put themselves through is as risible as their pretzel logic in rejecting Trump.

What you are missing is that she is advocating a party that the left approves of.

The GOP establishment “conservatives” don’t want to fight Obama, they don’t want to stand for anything of consequence.

Rubin, is right, its time to scrap that GOP they represent along with them and start over.

We aren’t missing anything of import when they disappear.

whether Trump becomes the nominee or not, a new center-right party is required, one that specifically rejects Trumpism.

The GOPe tried running on that platform with Jeb. How'd that work out?

Let’s see should I agree with Phyllis Schlafly or Jennifer Rubin. I think I’ll go with the known conservative, Phyllis Schlafly.
