Rob Portman: Kasich win would make him the 'candidate to watch'
Washington Times ^ | March 11, 2016 | Seth McLaughlin

"It is not necessarily that he will get the majority of the delegates — though anything is possible in this race, everything has been unpredictable so far — but he certainly would go into the convention with a lot of leverage," Mr. Portman said. "I think that is good for Ohio."

Political analysts say Mr. Kasich is angling to be a kingmaker at a contested convention and is eyeing the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

Trump will win Ohio in November just fine without Kasich.

That is a big deal to me

You are forgetting the big deal when as a congressman in the 1990s he lied about being pro 2nd A and then voted for Clintons semi auto ban. Kasich is a lying liberal pimp not to be trusted.

I’m already watching him. I don’t want him anywhere near my wallet! Or the Presidency.

Screw Portman, another pseudo-conservative who needs to be shown the door.

Wished it would happen, but the Senatorial seat Portman holds has always been filled with under the radar GOPE RINOs. RINOs like Portman and Kasich are assigned to not make waves and lay back in the weeds. You never really hear from them much until some important event comes along and then they spring into action supporting the GOPE liberal solution.

I have lived in Ohio all my life and have watched this sickening show go on for the past 50+ years. Make no mistake. Kasich and Portman are both RINOs supported by the big money GOPe. Their primary purpose is to keep Ohio under the thumb of the GOPe. You want more of the status quo then support these guys. Both would make horrible presidents and horrible VPs.

How many generations of Kasichs does the taxpayer have to support cradle to grave. Dad a mailman (i.e., government dole), Kasich a bureaucrat (i.e., government dole.) And people like that who don't PRODUCE anything BRAG about it.

His dad and those guys did such a great job at delivering the mail that now FedEx and other carriers have to move it from city to city, leaving the surly aholes in your local post office to deliver it (when they have time.) Retire at 50, gigantic pensions with perks out the wazoo for the retiree and spouse...Often get another govt job and then double dip in govt pensions.

Kasich is the perfect example of how our country got into the mess it's in with unfunded liabilities, armies of non-productive and counter productive bureaucrats, paid for by an ever-shrinking number of real producers. Damn. Signed, John Galt.

All of this dead wood has to go. The GOP needs both a substantive and image makeover. Kasich, Portman, Rove, Ryan, McConnell, the Bushes, Cheney, Christy, and their fellow travelers need to retire and move on. They haven’t proposed a fresh idea since they were in grammar school. In fact, they are constitutionally incapable of creative thinking.

Would you rather have Metzenbaum?

For whatever reason, Ohio tends not to elect staunch conservatives to the Senate.

Portman and Kasich both voted for the North American Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act in 1993. I wonder how that has worked out for Ohio and how they keep getting elected to office?

Kasich hasn’t won Jack and we are halfway through the primaries. He likely won’t win OH. He has zero path to the nomination. Somebody is delusional.
