It's unclear why Bush is meeting with the three contenders, but the fact that he's not meeting with Trump signals he is trying to strengthen any efforts that could bring down the GOP frontrunner.

The former governor, who dropped out of the race after South Carolina's primary last month, hasn't indicated whether he would formally endorse any of his former rivals before the critical winner-take-all primary in Florida next Tuesday.

It sure seems like American Elections are run by a psy-ops unit of the borg.

I don’t believe anything from anyone anymore, which, I suppose is what they want.

Its obvious. Jeb is going to give them a fool proof strategy for the debates.

That really worked well for him didn't it!

http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/2015/06/cruz-book-rove-bullied-him-over-bush41-support-and-called-bush-too-old-for-such-judgments.html/

June 28, 2015

“My call to Mr. Cruz apparently didn’t offend him back then because he continued seeking my counsel about his political ambitions, specifically his 2012 bid for the U.S. Senate,” Rove said. “One piece of advice I offered was that he should stop describing himself as the `next Marco Rubio,’ since he did not have Senator Rubio’s outstanding legislative record of accomplishments as speaker of the Florida House of Representatives.” (Full statement below.)

The run-in took place during Cruz’s short-lived campaign for state attorney general in 2009. George P. Bush – son of Jeb Bush, and now the Texas land commissioner –offered to introduce him to his grandfather, who turned 91 this month.

Ted Cruz book

Cruz flew to the Bush compound in Kennebunkport, Maine. He ended up hitting it off with the 41st president. He scored an afternoon on the boat with him and Barbara Bush with a stop for lobster rolls along the coast. Bush lent him some clothes so he wouldn’t have to wear his suit – including jeans and a belt buckle that read “President of the United States.”

Cruz called it “surreal” to be wearing Bush’s clothes.

Rove – George W. Bush’s longtime consigliore — heard about the meeting and called Cruz, livid.

“He was irate, demanding, ‘What in the hell do you think you are doing?!’” the senator writes. “Texas donors were giving the Bushes tens of millions, including major donors who were supporting the Dallas state rep who wanted to run for attorney general” – Cruz doesn’t name him, but was referring to Dan Branch – and those donors “were now berating Karl.”

Then, in a passage that could – intentionally or not — sow divisions in the Bush orbit, Cruz asserts that Rove denigrated the aging Bush’s mental capacity.

“He suggested that the elder Bush was too old to have good judgment anymore,” Cruz writes. “I was offended by that characterization and knew from my visit with 41 that it wasn’t remotely true.”

Rove demanded that Cruz return the check, but it had already been cashed. Cruz did give into pressure to keep quiet about Bush’s support, though.

They called the meeting with Jeb so they could beg him NOT to endorse them.

I’ll get slammed for this by the usual suspects but I don’t care.

I’ve always liked Trump’s political incorrectness and the way he sticks it to the media. But, I’ve been a Cruz supporter, because of his conservative record in the Senate. I voted for Cruz last week and still felt good about my vote. Even though I think Heidi is creepy and reminds me of Hillary.

Now, though, I’m having second thoughts about my vote. I always thought bringing Beck on the campaign trail was a disaster but I overlooked that. Bringing Neil Bush on board REALLY pisses me off. It seems Cruz is becoming cozier with the GOPe. I don’t want Cruz to have anything to do with that globalist Bush family.

If Cruz teams up with the globalist scum Rubio, that will be the last straw for me.

BTW, his statement about Trump’s voters being stupid was incredibly moronic and arrogant. Of course, some of the more ignorant Cruz worshippers were barking their approval at his gaffe.

Wasn’t it Trump who first said his voters were uninformed? If that’s the case, maybe you should be mad at Trump.

How about, let's look at the rest of the story, including quotes from WH correspondent Major Garrett (not the relatively junior CBS writer who bylined the story), before leaping to the conclusions so many here are in a big-ass hurry to arrive at?

Politics Jeb Bush to meet with Cruz, Kasich and Rubio before Thursday's debate 239 Comments REBECCA SHABAD CBS NEWS Mar 9, 2016 3:59 PM EST <snip> ..... But, as CBS News Chief White House correspondent Major Garrett points out, Jeb Bush's endorsement isn't one that would obviously be sought. The Rubio campaign is divided about its value, although it is true that most of Rubio's aides and advisers very much want the nod from Bush Others in Rubio's world see Bush as the toxic embodiment of the establishment, a less than ideal campaigner and a lost voice in the modern Republican party, says Garrett. Even in Florida, the value of his name and presence is debatable.

Cruz neither needs nor wants Bush's campaign help: he's much happier to have Carly Fiorina on his side. For Kasich, there's no downside. Still, Bush's ability to play a role in this primary seems limited, at best. [Emphasis added]

The meetings will come before the four remaining Republican candidates face off at another debate at the University of Miami on Thursday, hosted by CNN, Salem Radio and The Washington Times.

Efforts to thwart Trump's lead have been intensified over the last several weeks, but the billionaire businessman remains the frontrunner for now. According to CBS News' latest count, Trump has 456 delegates, Cruz has 356 delegates, Rubio has 148 delegates and Kasich has 52. A candidate needs 1,237 delegates in order to win the nomination.

On Tuesday night, Trump won the primaries in Michigan and Mississippi and Hawaii GOP caucuses. Cruz won Idaho's GOP caucuses.

Rubio's presidential campaign, meanwhile, and those close to the senator are engaged in deep conversations about the future of his White House bid. The topic of dropping out before next Tuesday's Florida primary has been raised and was not totally dismissed. It is an option being weighed, but it is unknown how seriously, Garrett reported.

Recent polls show Trump is leading the GOP pack in Florida. A CNN/ORC poll released Wednesday found 40 percent of the Sunshine State's Republican voters back Trump while Rubio is trailing in second with only 24 percent support.

Carly Fiorina, who dropped out of the presidential race last month, endorsed Cruz at a campaign rally in Miami on Wednesday morning.

This is a form of argument called "subverting authority" -- the authority of the people who just swear up and down, for the benefit of Cruz supporters and the delectation and consolidation of Trump supporters, that Ted Cruz is now the bitch of Moloch and the handmaiden of Asmodeus.

Authority subverted. Not true.

Nah Trump needs to go all in on saving the GOP by being a uniter and drawing new people into the party

If he does that, and he wins, it's proof of Karl Rove's base-stiffing, Tea-Party-disenfranchising, "Big Tent" thesis. (That he stole from Jack Kemp.)

Under "Big Tent", all you need are the wise professionals and Karl Rove and the Bush bagmen. You don't need a base, you don't need socons or Western land-use conservatives or anybody whom BLM wants to murder with impunity.
