In an update to a CBS News investigation of the country's largest veterans charity, Wounded Warrior Project, the board has fired the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Operating Officer.
The CBS News investigation raised questions about how the charity spends the millions of dollars it receives in donations each year.
Wounded Warrior Project's CEO, Steven Nardizzi, and COO, Al Giordano, were fired after criticisms from more than 40 employees about how it spends its more than $800 million raised in donations in the past four years.
The allegations include lavish spending by the charity at staff retreats, and other costs, at the expense of programs for veterans.
The charity's board of directors made the decision after meeting this afternoon in New York, Chip Reid reports. Sources tell CBS News the board has received preliminary results of a financial and policy audit, but there are indications that investigation will continue.
There are also discussions underway about retired senior military officials who are being considered to take over the helm of the organization, which has raised more than a billion dollars since its inception in 2003.

about F’n time
now there should be a lawsuit to return the misspent money
yeah, not just firing. JAIL.
many of these poor guys can barely communicate with family from their head injuries.
This make me SICK. They need to do time and get fined, whatever can be done to them.
How do you do that to your country’s soldiers?
Please God let brain injury treatment advances soar over the next decade. Amen.
O’Reilly’s favorite “charity”. He’s beem boosting them for years. When somebody wrote asking if he knew they were crooked, he said he’d do a “full story” as soon as “all the facts were in”. To my knowledge, he’s never said another word, but I don’t watch him every night. I did see their commercials begging for money are still on FOX.
WE .... get it?
WE (the employees)
the people
WE will make America great again
I sent the last donation request back and told them to remove me from thier mailing list, that living it up off the backs of those of us who thought they were doing good work was unacceptable. Wonder how many other supporters they lost? It still makes me mad. It’s disgusting and unforgivable.
I have several Wounded Warrior T shirts and gave a bunch of them as presents thinking the money was doing good. They’ll make good gun cleaning g rags.
WW is a liberal scam. They help a few then put them on TV for more advertising and revenue.
WW won’t take money from Christian or gun affiliated organizations.
Ditto.

Exactly.
They deserve only the very best of the vey best treatment and whatever else they need.
The good they could have done is gone forever, and all for greed.
FINALLY!!! It is nothing but a ‘non profit’ organization filled with greedy profiteers.
Were either one of these guys a veteran?
I would never give a dime to WW as I saw the B/S they kept feeding folks in their commercials (begging)-——they used th same couple of wounded vets over and over (with the mother of one crying the blues each time)——this outfit sucks and Trace Atkins ought to be ashamed of himself-—there is a special place in hell for these turds——WW2 vet
If Trump hadn’t held his Veterans rally, this might never have happened....at least not this soon. I realize they were being scrutinized but not with due diligence.
Me too and it fell on deaf ears just as your warning about this sleazy organization.
