Queen Elizabeth II opposed the legalization of same-sex marriage in England because of her deeply held Christian values, a close friend has reportedly told a London-based newspaper.
The UK Daily Mail published a story Sunday which claimed that the queen, who is also head of the Church of England, secretly opposed gay marriage but was in favor of civil partnerships. The unnamed "friend" said the monarch was frustrated by the fact that she could only "advise and warn" on the issue.
"It was the 'marriage' thing that she thought was wrong, because marriage ought to be sacrosanct between a man and a woman," said the friend, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail also stated that the reported revelation of her views on the definition of marriage was part of an overall series of stories about the queen as she nears her 90th birthday.
God save the Queen!

I admire her for her stand...unfortunately, we in the U.S. can’t say that for the ‘good government’ here went ahead a passed this bill so that we have to put up with it...

She gave royal assent to the Tories’ homosexual marriage law that defines it as such. Merely saying that the churches can “opt out” of solemnizing it is no defense of the faith or any faith.
And since “civil partnerships” are the stepping stone to legalized homosexual marriage, what does that say?
When people in the UK or the US wonder why the monarch is still the head of state, the easiest answer is that without her that title would be held by the prime minister ie a purely political creature. We have seen what Parliament and the courts have wrought in Britain; it would be madness to give them any more power and to remove all checks on their destructive, corrupt behavior.

My only correction is that its not only “faith” that declares all other “marriage” is evil, or illicit or unequal......it is SCIENCE and LOGIC which says that male/female union is the ONLY one which is equal for the two genders (there are only two genders/fact/science) which can be a true “union”.
Our Justice System is based on Natural Law Theory and the Duties inherent in all Natural Laws are never to be undermined in our “legal” system——that Duty to raise your own biological offspring. Only true marriage can be promoted in a US legal “Just Law” otherwise it sets up the selling of children-—evil, dehumanization and a type of slavery.
To warp the word “marriage” to mean what it can’t be is unconstitutional (irrational law is “null and void”). It is not only stupid and impossible to say two males can “marry” LOL, it defies Reason and Science.
You have to remember that this is a leaked statement.
The queen isn’t aloud to take public positions on political issues, but she has a weekly meeting with the Prime Minister in which she can air such statements.
I fully suspect she may have a very dim view of Islam. I’ll bet Churchill advised her early on that.
