Republican elites are begrudgingly embracing Ted Cruz—and hanging Marco Rubio out to dry.

Panicked at Donald Trump’s dominance and dismayed by Rubio’s continued inability to do anything about it, some top Republican power brokers are turning to Cruz, putting aside their policy and personal misgivings to back the candidate they now openly label as their best hope to stop Trump’s GOP takeover.

“Most people now think Ted’s the best vehicle to defeat Trump,” said Charles C. Foster, a Bush family loyalist from Houston who served on Jeb Bush’s national finance team.

Cruz hasn’t been the establishment.

What do you call an NYC Wallstreet billionaire?

Not establishment? He’s got 1000X more connections to the “elite” than Cruz ever will.

Cruz is still a first term senator, receiving senatorial perks and pay while campaigning (on our tax dollars) for the presidency. Didn’t Obama do the same thing?

No, they are not. Rubio still has the full support of the GOPe. If the GOPe wanted to help Cruz, they would have had Rubio and Kasich drop out weeks ago. Yet instead, they called for Cruz to drop out. So enough with the lies about Cruz being establishment. He isn't.

The Jeb Bush supporters are now backing Cruz.

What Jeb Bush supporters? I didn't know he had any.

Cruz has connections to the Bush-GOP establishment that Trump does not. It comes from him being a Bushy since 1999, he married a fellow Bushy. Hiring Neil Bush becomes a no brainer if you keep that in mind. Cruz is plenty elite himself if you look at his education and experience. It is not like Cruz went to the local community college or state university.

When Rubio and Kasich exit the race Cruz will beat Trump in a 1 vs 1 contest.

On what basis? Trump beating Cruz head to head in multiple polls, such as PPP, Bloomberg, etc. Cruz is running out of states with a high evangelical and "very conservative" population. Why will moderates start voting for Cruz when they haven't been voting for him already?

“Stunning use of the word “Creep” “

Hmm... I suppose we can start calling Ted’s establishment supporters, ‘Creepers’.

“Cruz didn’t go establishment, the establishment now comes to him!”

What a lame justification to excuse Ted’s cozying up to our sworn enemies.

If he was all you Cruzers claim him to be, he would have shown them the door instead of inviting them in.

How lame was it to see Christy stone faced behind Donald Trump.

How lame is it that Donald Trump has become besties with Rudy Guiliani.

DO YOU hold these against your guy? If not, bug off..HYPOCRITE.

We’re all wound up here. Sorry if I was out of line, or offended you in any way.

JR has asked us to keep it civil, and I mean to comply, but my batting average ain’t quite 1,000 yet.

Peace

You betcha, bud. We may wind up in the same foxhole someday, so we’d better keep this all in perspective.

When this thing is all done we’ll be focused on the true enemy again.
