GOP Establishment Creeps Toward Cruz

Republican elites are begrudgingly embracing Ted Cruz—and hanging Marco Rubio out to dry.

Panicked at Donald Trump’s dominance and dismayed by Rubio’s continued inability to do anything about it, some top Republican power brokers are turning to Cruz, putting aside their policy and personal misgivings to back the candidate they now openly label as their best hope to stop Trump’s GOP takeover.

“Most people now think Ted’s the best vehicle to defeat Trump,” said Charles C. Foster, a Bush family loyalist from Houston who served on Jeb Bush’s national finance team.

Now why would the creeps creep to the creep? Because they know deep inside he is one of their creepiest insiders they can control.

What Cruz disaster last night? You mean the way he finished 2nd in Michigan instead of a distant 3rd as most thought he would? Or the way he won Idaho? Or the way he got more than 20% higher in Mississippi than the pre-primary polls said he would?

In a head to head race, Cruz wins most of the remaining states, including California. He won’t win Florida or Ohio, most likely, no matter what Kasich or Rubio do.

I believe there are many here that really are fine with the establishment. Apparently Cruz is.

Whoever the GOPe backs is dead meat.

I agree. If the GOPe winds up backing Trump in the end, that will insure a Hillary victory.

This is amusing. I wonder what changed their minds. The GOP establishment is on the record when this process started as preferring even Trump to Cruz.

He won’t win North Carolina or Illinois either. Cruz won’t win Pennsylvania, New Jersey or New York. I doubt that old poll is even valid in California anymore. Cruz will find it impossible to win the nomination.

“I believe there are many here that really are fine with the establishment. Apparently Cruz is.”

How long before Ted Cruz starts praising the members of the Washington Cartel and says what a great job they are doing?

How long before Ted Cruz says it is an honor to be able to carry on the tradition of Mitch McConnell, John Boehner and Lindsey Graham?

“Let me encourage other members of the establishment: keep supporting Donald Trump, because every time you do it, what it is doing is telling conservatives all over the country where you stand and who stands with you”- Ted Cruz

First part of the quote proves he is a liar
Second part proves he is a hypocrite

Trump is at 32% in Illinois, Cruz is at 22%. Very possible to win Illinois in a head to head matchup.

Trump is at 28% in North Carolina, Cruz is at 19%. Again, very possible for Cruz to win here in a head to head.

Trump is at 21% in Pennsylvania, with Rubio at 18 and Cruz at 16, Kasich at 16. Cruz wins this in a head to head.

You are correct that Trump wins New Jersey and New York.

Oh well. Sad that the only possibility for Cruz to MAYBE win is to get rid of competition. Trump wins with competition. You must hate having to work hard. Cruz wants to win easy. Why doesn’t he convince voters he’s the best regardless of whose in the race?

I recall a while back that the Trump supporters were saying something like (even though he said he must become ‘a little establishment’) and all those establishment figures were/are choosing him over Cruz like Rudy Guiliani, Chris Christies, Bob Dole “Trump didn’t go establishment, the establishment came to him”

I THINK THE SAME think applies here. Cruz didn’t go establishment, the establishment now comes to him!

Can’t have it both ways TRUMPERS.
