U.S. commanders say country has capability to make weapons small and light enough.
Tokyo North Korea has been able to make its nuclear warheads small enough to fit onto ballistic missiles, the state media claimed Wednesday in Pyongyang's latest boast about improvements in its weapons capabilities.
North Korea has made the claim before and it is not known whether it is true, but the timing of the announcement is inauspicious.
The United States and South Korea are conducting huge military exercises that North Korea views as a pretext for an invasion. On Tuesday, South Korea unleashed a wave of unilateral sanctions against Pyongyang, including blacklisting the North's official in charge of inter-Korean relations.
The North's official Korean Central News Agency reported Wednesday that state leader Kim Jong Un had visited nuclear scientists,, then announced the "tremendous" achievement.
"The nuclear warheads have been standardized to be fit for ballistic missiles by miniaturizing them," KCNA reported Kim as saying to the scientists. "This can be called a true nuclear deterrent.
Koreans can do anything if they have a will."

Does the pudgy little fat boy really want to tangle with the USA and the world? Well, maybe for the next 10 months.
Otherwise, why have the US *and* the USSR, each made a couple of HIGHLY publicized ICBM tests in the last couple of weeks?
Trump should hang this flaming tire around Hillary's neck: her husband did it, while he had everyone distracted with blowjobs with a mere intern, a girl young enough to be his daughter (see also "inequities of power").
We should coin a new phrase, "Democrat privilege."
north korea needs to fit its ashes in a small urn. We aint taking that $hit.
Considering that 9 out of 10 of his missile tests are failures, he might want to be miles and miles away the first time he attempts to fire a nuclear tipped missile.
Is this the time that Obama and Kerry give the Norks $150,000,000,000? LOL
Meanwhile, one of Obama’s first actions in Office was to reduce our Nuclear Deterrent R&D and prevent us from introducing updated Nuclear Weapon Platforms.
They have learned how to mount a B-29 on an ICBM.
I have had it with fatso.
Just kill him. Shoot a missile up his skirt. Put a heart attack in his viagra. Even his hermit kingdom military would thank whoever does it.
They sure have the fish population afraid though
The USA doesn’t stop North Korea from fine tuning their nukes and in maybe five ten years they take out a couple of large American cities. We retaliate and take out their nothing of a capital Pyongyang. Fair trade?
Russia sent them a note saying that if you keep talking sh!t, don’t be shocked if you wake up some morning with a bomb up your ass.
“They have learned how to mount a B-29 on an ICBM.”
They could stick one inside of a commercial airliner and disguise the jet.
That’s a scary thought.
You are living in the past.
North Korea has reached a pretty fair level of ballistic missile technology and expertise. They have put several orbital satellites into orbits that allow them to pass over the United States at least once a day.
North Korea also has rudimentary Hydrogen Bomb technology
They have ballistic missile technology capable of hitting the United States with therm nuclear weapons and so does Iran - their Axis of Evil partner in nuclear weapon and ballistic missile technology
LOL - not.
Obama and Kerry did just give the Norks access to $150,000,000,000.
North Korea is a full Axis of Evil partner with Iran and Iran has outsourced much of it's Nuclear weapons and ballistic missile developments to North Korea to avoid international sanctions
NK leadership needs to be destroyed
I was a cold war child, I wasn’t scared back then. I am now.
The Soviets were evil, dishonest, and depraved. They were not, however, stark raving mad.
I cannot say the same of Fatso or of the Mullahs of Iran.
Any nation that can launch a satellite can launch a nuke. NORK is a threat.
