Despite the widespread and growing blackhole of politically correct “safe space” culture on America’s college campuses, at least one college president is standing up and asserting that enough is enough.
Last November, Dr. Everett Piper, president of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, wrote a piece on his college’s blog reminding students that they are attending a university, not “daycare,” after he was approached by a student who felt victimized over a sermon delivered on love. The piece made waves in national media, sparking stories in the Washington Post, Fox News, NBC, NY Daily News, and of course Independent Journal Review.
Dr. Piper says that, at the end of the day, people living in a free society need something more powerful than us to be the ultimate judge of debate. For hundreds of years in academia, that judge has always been truth. Now, it’s the self-coronated judges of what is “politically correct” or not.
“It’s ideological fascism,” Dr. Piper told me after the interview. “It’s the antithesis of freedom.”
His advice for students entering college next year? Have confidence in your own commonsense, and ask yourself:
What do you really want? Do you want to be free within the academy? Or do you want some power base to crush you into compliance? It’s an easy answer for me. But, perhaps fortunately, I’m not in college anymore.

I’ve been to Oklahoma Wesleyan. It has some nice old (for Oklahoma) buildings.
Its the ‘you are special’, everyone-gets-a-trophy generation coming of age.
The liberal educators created these snowflakes. Now they have to deal with them.
The liberals want the power to crush you into compliance.
At least my older kids (12-14) and their friends are sick to death of PC already!

Exactly. They don’t want to have to work for anything. Not even for the college degree that might enable them to get a job, have a career and make a living by earning a paycheck. It’s too haaarrrd!
We all get to deal with these delicate snowflakes. They will be hired by tue government. And thats all they need to release their inner tyrant
