New York woman arrested for driving with a handmade license plate.
On Friday, CBS News reported that Amanda Schweickert, 28, of Sardinia is in trouble for using a fake license plate. She is not supposed to be driving because she has a suspended registration and no car insurance. However, it did not stop her from using a little creativity.
She decided to create her own license plate. Authorities say she used a piece of cardboard and painted blue text on it. Although the plate didn’t look too dreadful, it fooled no one. On Wednesday, a police officer pulled Schweickert over in Springville after noticing the odd-looking license plate. Her charges include felony count of possessing a forged instrument, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, and three traffic violations. Authorities locked her up and set bail set at $400.
The Eerie County Sheriff’s Department posted a photograph of the fake plate on their Facebook page. The department also included a reminder that using a fake license plate is illegal. The department takes their license plate offenses seriously.

the article isn't quite correct, she was pulled over for no front plate and that's when they saw the fake rear plate... if she had a fake front plate too she mighta gotten away with it
She could’ve at least scanned an actual plate, and probably gotten away with it for a while.

No problem as long as you don’t drive your private car on public roads.
I was fully expecting a really good facsimile.
A good color laser printer could have worked far better. Or just get a used plate, and print out updated stickers.
Keep your head low, an avoid the cops, and no one would ever know.
