At the end of The Candidate, the engrossing 1972 film about the underbelly of campaigns, rookie politician Robert Redford is shocked by his triumph. Grabbing his handler, he pleads, What do we do now?
In a case of life imitating art, Donald Trump finds himself in a similar situation. His improbable run is rocking and shocking the world, but after each victory, the climb only gets steeper.
The home stretch of the nomination race is going to be ferocious, and if he survives, he faces a general-election war against Hillary Clinton that would be unlike any in modern times.
Is Trump built to go the distance?

Trump’s name recognition is second to Hillary at 92 compared to her 94. The American people do know Trump after being in their homes for 14 years thru his TV program. He is not an unknown.
Misogynist.
The numbers make his point. On Super Tuesday, Republican turnout increased by 81 percent, from 4.7 million in 2012 to 8.5 million last week, according to the Wall Street Journal. Trump is clearly the straw stirring the GOP drink for good.
That’s huuuuge!
If a habitual felon and traitor to the USA like Hillary has that much of a lead over Trump, then it doesn’t matter if she wins or not because this country is already long gone, dead, finished, it doesn’t exist. It is a country filled with brainless zombies.
If anyone’s religious, I’d pray Clinton gets indicted, the witch deserves it we all know and not going Glenn Beck religious on people, I’m just saying that.
“I am not a Trump, Cruz or Rubio supporter”
So are you really Mitt Romney?
Trump can probably carry NY Nj and PA...plus the normal red states. Game over
Candidates have run for office from prison and won in the past. (It shouldn't be a surprise that all were Democrats.)
The Democrats ditched VP candidate Thomas Eagleton on August 1. My own hope is that Hillary will be indicted after the ballots are printed but before the actual election.
I'm not sure that it is best for Candidate Trump to face a "tanned, rested and ready" Joe Biden who has gone through the primary season with no attention paid to his mental status.
He can also lose.
Madam Secretary appears to have health problems - she does not have the stamina to keep up with Trump.
“He can also lose.”
Especially if he keeps getting “fragged” by purist.
Hillary doesn’t take well to criticism. Trump loves getting under peoples’ skin. I think once he can focus solely on her, the supershrew will be unleashed. It should be so entertaining to watch that even the #NeverTrumps will reconsider and support him.
Trump is capable of doing that all on his own. His performance on Thursday, his constant saying one thing one day and walking it back the next, his constant lying, his stock answer of "we'll do it, believe me" in response to any questions about how he'll accomplish his promises are going to turn people off come November. It's not easy to come off more unlikable than Hillary but Trump is the guy who can do it.
And hates it when people get under his paper-thin skin. And when they do then Trump goes into full-blown immature bully mode. You saw that Thursday. And the Democrats will take full advantage of that if he's the candidate in November.
Doubtful. He might make New York more competitive than in the past but New York and New Jersey are solid blue. Trump's anti-unionism will be used against him in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan and may cost him there.
Despite both having almost 100 percent name recognition, Hillary has spent close to $200 MILLION on her campaign so far, while Trump has spent about $30 MILLION.
I bring this up because whenever anyone comments on how little Trump has spent compared to the rest of the gop candidates, most say “that’s because he had almost 100 percent name recognition to start with.”
Now, I wish Trump would open his wallet a bit more and organize a proper ground game, especially in the caucus states where he usually doesn’t do well, except in NV.
I was arguing with a lib the other day about that incredibly stupid and condescending “song” Lady GaGa sang at the Oscars, “Till it happens to you”, another “brilliant” piece of garbage by the most overrated songwriter in the history of mankind Diane Warren, where the premise of the “song” seems to state that people do not support sexual assault victims till it happens to them.
I said first of all, since when do people not support sexual assault victims? If somebody sexually assaulted my kid, or my brother or sister or even a friend, I can absolutely 100% guarantee you that the perpetrators life would be in extreme danger. People who commit sexual assault are some of the most punished people in this country where the perps are routinely given prison sentences as long as murderers. Jerry Sandusky for example is doing life without the possibility of parole. So where is this lack of support where gee whiz, people just are not supporting sexual assault victims because it hasn’t happened to them yet? Oh yes, and this lib called me a “misogynist” for writing that. Typical lib, can’t debate so resort to standard name calling.
And secondly, they had Joe Biden introduce this “song”..Joe Biden? Who has an issue with keeping his paws off women? THAT Joe Biden is introducing a “song” about sexual assault?
