Former House Majority Leader Tom Delay told Cavuto the GOP voters need to understand that the delegates pick the nominee.
Tom Delay: Its not stealing the nomination. Its the process. People need to realize that this is not an election of a president. This is the nomination of a candidate. And theres a process and theres rules and everybody has a fair shot at those rules. But in the end, the representatives, the delegates make the decision at the convention one way or another. And if no candidate gets to the convention with the majority of the votes then the delegates, duly elected to represent the people who have voted, get to decide. Its not stealing anything.

Oh, no. They are uninformed and absurd.
Wow.
The result? She didn’t read that far.
“Whats wrong with what he actually said, if a candidate gets over 50% of the delegates he wins the nominate. But if nobody gets 50%, then there will be deals made to get somebody over 50%.”
Don’t see what the big deal is. That’s the way conventions work and always have worked.
What I’m hearing from the militants is that, if Donald comes close but no majority, he has to win anyway.
Must be blonde.
That is the question. What is he trying to say?? In English, please.
I want to see a GOPe hack(like say, Tom Delay)get up in front of the TV cameras and announce to the world that:
“We know that 18 million people voted for Trump/Cruz/Whatever and the convention selected a guy with NO votes, but you have to understand it’s a PROCESS, that it’s the delegates that choose the nominee not the voters.”
Go on. I dare ya.
I’ve read Delay’s comment in the recent past. He’s advocating for brokered convention.
If Trump is one delegate short, he will not get the nomination. And I strongly support that result.
Cheat.
Isnt Delay really suggesting that the corrupt Washington cartel regards the primaries is meaningless, particularly since cartel candidates are not winning?
That’s what they are saying. If Trump has the plurality but not the majority, then any outcome other than Trump getting the nod is “stolen” from Trump.
They are the ones who are trying to change the rules, because they want to de facto change the winning criteria from majority to plurality.
Delay is not GOPe.
This is the equivalent of the GOPe trying to sell us horse manure, telling us it’s chocolate candy.
The Primaries is 100% WASTE OF TIME, if they are going to nulify our votes. It goes against the principales everything this Republic was founded on.
These are the same b@stards that say it’s okay for Hillary Clinton to commit thousands of felonies and do nothing about it. At the very same time the average American is held to a different standard.
The GOP will be facing a full scale revolt if they are stupid enough to do this. Pray that it’s not physical.
That’s just what I need. Color commentary from an ex con about the inner machinations of the GOP sausage factory.
You are posting lies and fabrications. You do not know what you are talking about. You are jumping on an honorable man because he states the facts that you are ignorant about and your response is to accuse him of things that are untrue.
Wow. Actually, it sounds like Mr. Trump’s way of dealing with someone or something he doesn’t like.
Oh, and the answer to my question (again, with the hope that you would educate yourself rather than continue to spread these fabrications) is that Tom Delay was totally vindicated in the courts when the state’s evidence was found to be legally insufficient.
The point is if Trump doesn’t get a majority, then an outcome where he doesn’t become the nominee is possible, and legitimate and valid, and does not mean the nomination is “stolen” from him.
This.
I have read the comments. I haven’t seen any comment that claims that the nominee is selected by popular vote — only that the delegates (practically all of them, for all intents and purposes) are bound on the first vote, which is entirely true.
