After an explosive day for the GOP, the chairman of the Republican National Committee said there wont be any shell games going on with the nominating process.
The rules of the nominating process are no different today than 100 years ago. Which is you have a process. And whatever candidate gets a majority of the delegates is going to get the support of the party. Thats how it works, Reince Priebus said on CNN Thursday. "Its not going to be any different. Theres not going to be any shell games going on. Thats the process and were going to get it done."
And he attempted to soothe nerves about chaos in his party.
I think that were doing great, and I know that this party will come together when its all over, he said. "Fighting in primaries is not indicative of losing in November."
Priebus laughed when asked if the GOP was "potentially falling apart at the seams.
No, he said. The Republican Party has more people elected today across this country since 1900, before acknowledging the party needed to work on its White House win-loss ratio.
"We've got to learn how to win a presidential election as a party, I'll give you that," he said.
Priebus' comments came after Mitt Romney delivered a withering takedown of Trump, calling him a "fraud" and a "phony." Trump responded with equal venom, saying that Romney begged for his endorsement in 2012. "I could have said 'Mitt, drop to your knees.' He would have dropped to his knees," he said during a rally in Maine.
Priebus shrugged off questions on whether it was realistic for Romney or House Speaker Paul Ryan to be drafted as the Republican nominee.
Not really," he said.

Cantorizing Ryan is a must......nobody deserves it more than this smug little creep Ryan.
Wish I could say that I trust him uat his word.
Ah, so THAT’s Hillary’s email server!!!
I feel your well placed anger.
Didn’t think you’d notice!

At this point, the relevant group is the Convention Rules Committee, whose changes would have to be approved by a vote of the whole convention.
The great majority at the convention will be Trump and Cruz delegates, almost all elected in their own right by the folks back home and owing nothing to party bosses like Rinse. Think they’ll just say OK to DC insiders?
They’s be eating Hillary’s emails!!! No wunder she’s couldn’ts find them!!!
Trump was nutz to go to that Fox debate last night and he’s insane if he does any more debates. They are just attack sessions. He’s winning he does not need to debate. Luz and Amnestio need to debate.
Agree. Plus when the debates come with Hillary, we alternate moderators. They get a shot with their liberal biased moderators, then our team of Levin, Hannity and Rush get the next debate. You want 4 debates, 8 debates, no problem Hillary, but our moderators are at every other one. You got a problem with that Hillary?
I'm serious. Why can't we have a fair and balanced debate schedule?

Prince Rebus is a figurehead.
Romney tanked and the RNC has thrown him under the bus. He actually thought he could get the nomination. But after the blow back the party big shots said “Never mind”. It’s funny! And today Romney announces he would not run for president. Again, it’s funny!
How does it feel under the bus, Mitt? Probably better than that dog felt on top of the car! Why don’t you put a Trump mask on and go meet Beck at the temple.
Damned liars...
The rino is delusional.How sad.
The primary process rules and the GOP convention rules change year by year. They aren’t even close to what they were a 100 years ago.
So, either Reince is a complete idiot or a liar, but either way, simply not to be believed. Which means his “shell games” comment lacks credibility as well, particularly since the GOPe cabal behind Romney could not have taken place without Reince at the table.
Reince is simply backing off the overt get-Trump effort now that the Romney attack-Trump-with-every-piece-of-dirt the GOPe speech writers stuff into his speech has predictably and massively backfired.
Weasel words: If no one has a majority, then the delegates are free to change their votes. There is no guarantee other than watchfulness that there will be no shenanigans.
Note: I would not necessarily object to a non-Trump nomination if Trump fails to get a majority of the delegates after a significant number of rounds of voting. I would object if they chose a loser who had been soundly defeated (anyone who ran other than the #2 candidate), but not if they united behind either the second place finisher or someone who didn’t run at all but had broad popular support among genuine anti-establishment conservatives (DeMint?).
