After an explosive day for the GOP, the chairman of the Republican National Committee said there wont be any shell games going on with the nominating process.
The rules of the nominating process are no different today than 100 years ago. Which is you have a process. And whatever candidate gets a majority of the delegates is going to get the support of the party. Thats how it works, Reince Priebus said on CNN Thursday. "Its not going to be any different. Theres not going to be any shell games going on. Thats the process and were going to get it done."
And he attempted to soothe nerves about chaos in his party.
I think that were doing great, and I know that this party will come together when its all over, he said. "Fighting in primaries is not indicative of losing in November."
Priebus laughed when asked if the GOP was "potentially falling apart at the seams.
No, he said. The Republican Party has more people elected today across this country since 1900, before acknowledging the party needed to work on its White House win-loss ratio.
"We've got to learn how to win a presidential election as a party, I'll give you that," he said.
Priebus' comments came after Mitt Romney delivered a withering takedown of Trump, calling him a "fraud" and a "phony." Trump responded with equal venom, saying that Romney begged for his endorsement in 2012. "I could have said 'Mitt, drop to your knees.' He would have dropped to his knees," he said during a rally in Maine.
Priebus shrugged off questions on whether it was realistic for Romney or House Speaker Paul Ryan to be drafted as the Republican nominee.
Not really," he said.

Draft Paul Ryan?... he is going to be Cantorized this fall.
Rinse is probably still scraping pieces of his phone off the ceiling
Or else what, Reince?
No the brazen theft is going on with a full frontal view!
GOPe naked corruption
After yesterday's ridiculous show by Mittens, Reince and his cronies should be in the unemployment line today! I guess I might have to wait till January for that satisfaction,
Rinse, stop these entertainment style debates.
There should be a quiet audience or NO audience.
Goodbye forever, Republicrat fat cat, go along to get along suck-ass party! How this party has morphed from a Conservative to a liberal party to rival the Democrats is one of life’s mysteries.
It really began in the days of Robert Michel who was a n utterly worthless minority leader.
The RNC is mad at the Greene County Republicans for not endorsing Portman.
Reince is now officially out of the loop. The big $$$ donors have decided to take over the party, and simply crush the opposition with their wealth.
Shell games? Little was heard from Shell after he lost the primary to Richard Nixon in 1962. (He was the conservative candidate in that race.)
And that's after the ER doc finished pulling the melted parts out of his colon.
If you’re interested, saying, “not really” isn’t very comforting, Mr. Priebus.
Rinse avoided the point. The Rules Committee has been around for 100 years alright, but that is beside the point, The Rules get changed, and *were* changed just last cycle to kill off the Ron Paul insurgency.
Now the Establishment are the insurgents this cycle, against TRUMP and find themselves hamstrung by their own damn rules, and they want to play with the Rules again, to untie their shoe laces from one another.
HotAir had a column this morning all about RULE 40, and the eight state rule that has backfired on the GOPE.
I don’t trust this POS. He was on Mark Levin’s show when Ken Cuccinelli was running for Governor of Va and said that they were supporting Ken, but didn’t. He lies!
You may be right, but the only solace one can draw from this is the fact that every time the GOP really knuckles down and tries to accomplish something, they fall on their faces.
These are not debates as you have said.
MY FORMAT
Round robin 1 to 1 discussion.
10 - 15 mins per topic.
Names drawn out of hat, topic announced by A SINGLE moderator and the two candidates actually debate each other.
REPEAT as required for two hours.
NO Lecterns except for the two speakers.
There is no audience.
Candidates speak ONLY during their 1-1 debate and a two minute wrap up.
Format tweaked as needed.
If you believe him I have a really good buy on a bridge and the toll booths that go with it.
He has no power over the GOPe. He has no control whatsoever of this process. That is abundantly clear.
Give Mitt a Billion Dollars and Trump would kill him
