Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's claim Sunday that his self-named university got a "A rating" from the Better Business Bureau is true -- but that's only half the story.
In an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," Trump defended Trump University, which largely shut down in 2011 and is the subject of multiple lawsuits alleging false marketing for what was essentially an entrepreneurship seminar, not a college.
The course got a "98 percent approval rating and high marks" from participants, Trump said on "Meet the Press," adding: "We have an A from the Better Business Bureau."
Trump repeated the BBB claim twice more in the same response.
The BBB said a statement to NBC News on Sunday that Trump University currently has no rating because "the company is believed to be out of business."
But when it was assessed by BBB Serving Metro New York, the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative -- the name under which Trump University has most recently operated -- had, indeed, gotten the BBB's top rating in the past, it said.
In fact, according to the rating agency, Trump appears to have undersold things -- at times in the past, his "university" had an A-plus rating.
But it's not all good news for the Republican front-runner. The BBB's ratings are "dynamic" and are based on a constantly shifting algorithm, meaning they're changing all the time. And over the years, the company's rating had fallen as far as D-minus -- an assessment Trump chose not to mention Sunday.
And then they cried about how nasty it was when it was all over.
BBB is, itself, a scam and is only a more modern way of buying protection from the mob. You get a low rating, you join and pay their fees and you miraculously recover. They should be reported to the BBB.
“Yeah, if its this easy to find then its Kelly just doing a pisspoor job, once again.”
It isn’t that she did a pisspoor job, she did this with intent. They have no respect for the American people and are manipulating us to not support Trump by spreading lies and distortions about him...this is the corruption we need to weed out of our government, media and corporations/unions.
You misunderstood me. BBB are extortionists. They don’t actually help consumers with actual complaints and they scam a lot of businesses too. If you don’t pay them money, they can drop your score if you get a complaint. The BBB doesn’t actually resolve or help anyone but the BBB.
will Kelly hold a presser to admit she was wrong?
Megyn Kelly lied? I can’t believe she would lie. /S
Lord almightly, you think the press would dig into 0bama’s lies about attending Columbia, or the fact no hospital has claimed 0bama’s birth at their facility, or the pdf posted on the WH website if a manufactured forgery
They should have put a podium up on stage for Meggie to use while she was debating Trump.
It depends on what the meaning of rating is.
Really check this out!!!
” Sunday, February 28th”
LoL ME-gyn Kelly must have used it.
trump still facing a 40 million fraud suit out of NY.
Imagine, trump’s the gop presidential nominee and having to go to trial over fraud claims. the plaintiffs against rump, ordinary Americans not millionaires...a gift to the Dems
Megyn Crowley. FUMK!
Is Megyn wrong about her “D-” comeback? If so, she better apologize tomorrow and make it loud and clear.
H1-B visas are for skilled workers, not unskilled such as domestic workers, ie, maids, housekeepers and such. Read the real deal here if you want to know about H1-B Visas. https://www.uscis.gov/eir/visa-guide/h-1b-specialty-occupation/understanding-h-1b-requirements
Having been a member of the BBB, I can tell you it doesn't take much for a rating to fall. A couple of even bogus complaints and your rating can drop rapidly if you don't answer them satisfactorily. The business is held hostage to what even someone who is not a customer may file with the BBB.
With something like Trump University, where some people who take the course and do not get the benefit they think they should have gotten, complaints will be filed. I guarantee it. That doesn't mean they were scammed. It means they did not follow the course advice, system, were just not astute enough for the methods taught to work for them, they did not have the talent required for them to work, or they did not have the money necessary to actually do what was necessary to take advantage of what they learned. So, to them, it obviously wasn't their failings, it had to be the course's failings, they were hornswoggled into taking a worthless course.
She actually retracted he D- remarks in the after debate show. . . Sort of. But she did explain that it was raised to an "A."
Pretty much true. Just try to go through them to solve a dispute. They do absolutely nothing. Better to have both parties negotiate one on one or go to court. Looks like this is the case with Trump U. It is a lawsuit that should not be litigated on Faux News by their bloody prosecutor Megyn Kelly. Has no bearing on this primary...it’s business...all businesses deal with lawsuits.
