Teddy is all about what’s good for Teddy. He’s a flimflam man, and a very good one. He snowed most all of us, including yours truly.

Your arrogant and somehow foolish response doesn’t impress me.

I never said anything is cheaper made outside the country, I said much of the merchandise is cheaply made.

My view is that if China or others don’t like tariffs, fine, we’ll start making and buying American again.

The guy is what 70? His energy is incredible. Most of us after the day he just put in would be leaning on the podium falling asleep tonight. Instead he will be the same guy tonight he just was at that rally.

The only “army” involved in the voluntary cooperation of the competitive market economy free from government interference is the army of the free American People which has been temporarily hampered by the feds but will hopefully soon be free of government interference to do what they do best: live, thrive, and grow.

Your People’s Liberation Army will have to look elsewhere.

It makes a lot of sense. The uniparty is not stupid. So they built up a “conservative” alternative to take the fall at a convenient time. Rather astute actually. Unfortunately someone they couldn’t quite control showed up, and played by a different set of expectations. And the “conservative” alternative that they built up got it in his head that he might be The One when in reality his role was to be the stooge.

And that’s where we are right now. Thank God for campaigns.

You mean the establishment guy pretending to be anti establishment? Probably. His#1 donor is a hedge fund guy. I’ve always felt he was just like the rest. Just his “thing” was being the constitution guy and the religion guy. So he does a bunch of stuff in the Senate that he can hold up as his”record” against the establishment. But the reality is.it is a record of nothing.just lawyer speak.

"free of government interference to do what they do best: live, thrive, and grow."

I would add export jobs, move away to avoid taxes and fund politicians to give them a free ride.

No, you've either forgotten or have been terribly misinformed - the federal government, not the free market economy, drives those things.

Dang when are people around here going to get that the government is NOT their friend but freedom IS their friend. This is site is Free Republic isn't it? Supposedly "conservatives" right? Since when did so many conservatives get so confused to think the government is their friend and freedom is their enemy?

Sadness.

I hear you.

Romney was the most liberal Republican I ever voted for.

Only because the alternative was worse.

At least in 2008, I voted for the girl and could justify my vote for McCain, who I detest.

Trump has made me see what we have been missing in a leader for so, so long.

Cruz is as inside as they come and if he was truly the outsider he claims, he’d condemn Romney and do himself infinitely more good than staying on the sidelines with this. This is now a Trump vs. Everyone else race, and Cruz is part of the everyone else.

You nailed it. The silence is deafening.

The loss is when we attempt to sell our goods to China they devalue their currency and make our prices too high and not competitive. They also have a communist system and the workers are oppressed and are forced into very low wage labor. China does not have to deal with the extremely strict environmental regulations like the U.S.. Those are a few of the important reasons why our trade imbalance is 500 billion dollars per year. So we are losing on trade deals. That means that China has many jobs that could be here in the U.S..If we had a zero trade deficit with a country then both countries win.

A big problem is that other governments do not operate with the same costs that our bloated government operates with. And our corporations are the highest taxed in the world. And other governments have fewer regulations imposed on business and that along with cheap labor results in lower costs. So we are not only competing with foreign businesses we are also competing with foreign governments. The foreign governments create economic policy that assures that their prices are lower than the U.S. prices. We have to do something to level the playing field and one immediate fix is to increase tariffs on foreign imports. That means that companies will have no benefit in moving to a foreign company and Americans stay employed. The trade off is that Americans have work even though there may be some price increases. So which do you prefer ...no job and somewhat higher prices or no job and somewhat lower prices?

“But now... if he’s actually siding with Mittens over me, I’m just not sure he’s who he really is. “

I didn’t know who he really was when he stayed silent for months during the campaign on illegal immigration. Or when he condescendingly said ‘The American people don’t want to have that conversation.” about illegals here.

Now, he is showing his establishment roots. A nonestablishment conservative would not side with Romney.

Trump stands alone tonight.

I wish Ben would be there.

Thank you for clarifying my naïveté. I had often wondered. Now there can be no denying it.

I disagree with you about your blanket statements but you are free to express such a belief.

I do not think Cruz is “as inside as they come”. In fact other than an impression I get from him speaking and his method of speech, I think his character is strong. Note, not perfect, all these candidates are FAR from perfect though right?

I agree with you on the issue of Cruz not coming out and VERY strongly disavowing what Mitts did. It was a wasted opportunity, and I agree it very well may show his character toward the behavior of the establishment. It’s basically everyone vs Trump, and I’m starting to worry about Trumps safety. Cruz could and should show backbone here.

Guess I won’t hold my breath in wait...

Very poor analogy. When you spend $100 at the grocery store, the $ stays in the US, people are employed in the US, and you get decent food (or you might not but you can if you choose good food).

Buying crap from China means the money circulates in CHINA, employing people in CHINA and the crap Chinese goods that you buy are PURE TOTAL JUNK.

You don’t really believe what you wrote, do you?

Or it all goes into the globull economy so “it’s all one”?

Get rid of all of that crap. Protectionism NEVER works. Get the feds out of the way and American business will once again be competitive and with top quality.

Protectionism was considered a good thing say 25o years ago or so. Tariffs was how the fedgov got its $$ primarily. I see nothing wrong with it at all. If most of what people buy is made in the US, everyone wins.
