A big problem is that other governments do not operate with the same costs that our bloated government operates with. And our corporations are the highest taxed in the world. And other governments have fewer regulations imposed on business and that along with cheap labor results in lower costs. So we are not only competing with foreign businesses we are also competing with foreign governments. The foreign governments create economic policy that assures that their prices are lower than the U.S. prices. We have to do something to level the playing field and one immediate fix is to increase tariffs on foreign imports. That means that companies will have no benefit in moving to a foreign company and Americans stay employed. The trade off is that Americans have work even though there may be some price increases. So which do you prefer ...no job and somewhat higher prices or no job and somewhat lower prices?

You can’t do anything about what other countries do and all raising tariffs do is penalize the America consumer which is like shooting yourself in the foot. If other countries want to shoot themselves in the foot that’s up to them, doesn’t mean we have to.

All we can and should control is that within our own borders. If you get that the issue is the unfriendly American business environment and weak American competitiveness caused by the skyrocketing costs of doing business and that the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is the root cause of the issue, you’ve come a long way to understanding how to solve the problem (get the feds OUT!!!).
