New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez will endorse Marco Rubio's presidential campaign Thursday.
"Marco Rubio is a compelling leader who can unite the country around conservative principles that will improve the lives of all Americans," the Republican governor said in a statement given to Politico. "The stakes for our great country are too high and the differences between the candidates too great for me to remain neutral in this race. I wholeheartedly trust Marco to keep us safe and ensure a better tomorrow."
The endorsement from Martinez, the chair of the Republican Governors Association and the nation's only Latina governor, comes at a crucial period of time for Rubio, who won only one state during Super Tuesday.
Martinez, whose name has also been floated as a possible GOP vice presidential pick, will be with Rubio on the campaign trail in Kansas on Friday and at a rally in Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday.
Birds of a feather...
Unrelated, but I went skiing several years ago and the lift got stuck.
The guy next to me took off his gloves and lit up a huge doobie.
Turns out he was the governor.
Take a guess who.
You think her loyalty is not with Hispanics?
I’m seeing it frequently. When push comes to shove the Hispanics show their loyalty to Hispanic causes.
The same with blacks, e.g., Eric Holder, Colin Powell
“You think her loyalty is not with Hispanics?”
Hispanics of Mexican origin are surprisingly not a factor in New Mexico, which has a large Hispanic population — of Spanish origin — who were residents of New Mexico long before the purchase of New Mexico. The despise and look down on illegals.
The Democrats actually ran ads against Martinez calling her “La Tejana” (the Texan), because that is what New Mexico natives call Mexican immigrants. (She was born in El Paso.)
No, she was elected to a second term in 2014 and is term limited. This endorsement ensures she will end up taking care of her developmentally impaired older sister follow her term.
She probably acquiesced!! Had hoped that she would wait to be closer to the NM primary date.
Really think she did politically what she had to do to survive.
Hope she did! :^)
Yeah, I agree. My previous comment make out of anger.
The sad thing is NM used to be as conservative a state as there was.
Did Martinez list Rubio’s accomplishments or give any specific reason why Rubio would be a wonderful choice for president? Her saying she adores him is not a reason.
Morning stephenjohnbanker!
If you could refrain from posting ‘tawdry’ language it would be appreciated.
One she is my Governor. She was elected by the people, my vote was for her and she is due some respect.
She is pushing a democratic legislature that (imo) want to open the borders, make us a sanctuary state and will not make tough laws for DWI.
Could go on.................do not always agree with everything she does this being one but she is a LADY and should be treated as one.
Please, disagree but disagree agreeable????
“The sad thing is NM used to be as conservative a state as there was.”

Thirty five years ago CA was a swing state. Immigration from the east coast and beyond fixed that.
I miss Hatch chiles. Although here in Houston the chile roasters are at some of the supermarkets during the fall, just like back in Albuquerque.
One time I had a bad bout of bronchistis. I found that Hatch Chiles indeed have medicinal value.
