Even as major Republican donors coalesced Wednesday around a last-ditch effort to halt Donald Trump's march toward the GOP presidential nomination, resignation was setting in among some onetime Trump critics.
"It is too late," Republican media strategist Alex Castellanos, who had unsuccessfully urged top GOP contributors to back an anti-Trump campaign earlier in the cycle, wrote in an email. He went on:
"If our self-indulgent Republican party establishment had really wanted to prevent a takeover of the GOP, they should not have gorged on political power while they failed to do anything to prevent the decline of the country. Our leaders could have led. They could have done more than say 'no' to Democrats while offering no alternative."
"They should have stood up for the change Donald Trump is bringing now but they didn't."
Now, Trump has earned the nomination. He won it, fair and square and we should respect that. Donald Trump whipped the establishment and it is too late for the limp GOP establishment to ask their mommy to step in and rewrite the rules because they were humiliated for their impotence.
"If Trump is going to be our nominee, as I believe he is, it is our mission to support Trump and make him the best nominee and president possible."

Which proposal of Trump’s do you disagree with?
Populism takes parts of the liberal platform, and parts of the Conservative platform. Most noteably, Trump appears aligned with me on my two biggest issues:
1) Shipping illegals back to Guatemala by trebuchet, and
2) Being pro-gun.
You said...
“I can respect someone deciding they cant vote for Trump on principle.
But if he wins this fair and square, I cannot respect someone supporting slimeball knee-in-the-groin tactics to try and take it away from him.”
I won’t be voting for Trump.
But I don’t support what the GOP is trying to do to him.
He’s not a Liberal. He’s a Populist. Learn your labels.

This election cycle is ALL about immigration!!! It is the #1 issue it IS the ONLY way we START to turn this ship around!!! Without the holt of illegal immigrants we ALL know we will no longer have a country to save!!! After the immigration problem is solved we can start to repair the rest!!!
I too DON’T BELIEVE these bastards!!!
We’re being sandbagged. The GOP finally figured out their direct attacks on Trump HELP him. Took Axelrod to tell them that on CNN. Morons. GOP consultants are the JV. The real good ones are all Dems, IMO.
Exactly, this is us against them, and it’s all centered on exactly one issue. IMMIGRATION.
It’s idiotic to pretend to be a conservative, unless the candidate is no holds barred going to get a handle on this flood of third worlders and moslems.
Cruz is a free trader GS tool who speaks Spanish and is a fist get Hispanic. Rubio is an anchor baby who continually reassures the Spanish speaking world _in Spanish- that he has their back. They both spoke Spanish on stage. Hell, Teddy greeted them at the border with soccer balls! Those two hispano-twin fist gen types wont stop the flood. Trump will at least try.
You are right, this whole election is 100% amnesty.
What is it with ¡Jebby! and cRuz having their mommy and daddy run the race with them? Bar is faster than Yebbers, btw.
I have no animosity toward anyone NOW. But as I stated on an earlier thread, I will not change my mind and I personally know quite a few people (not on this forum) that feel as I do.
Mr Trump is going to have a hard time coraling conservatives, mark my words.
when did they say no to DemocRATS?
For decades both parties have been flooding the country with foreigners. The citizens have wanted it stopped, but have been blocked by both parties. This election we finally have a champion.
The establishment wants to deny the citizens the opportunity to retain the rule of law and our country.
The inundation of illegal aliens was not accidental or from ineptitude, this was intentional.
********
no handshake for dr. ben :(
Ummm, it is 319-226-126 in the race to 1237... not exactly over.
The GOP also requires a candidate to win 8 states with a simple majority, and nobody has one yet, with 1/3 of the states done.
1.He thinks affirmative action is okay.
2.He would fund Planned Parenthood except for abortion. (This is current federal policy)
3.He supports a progressive income tax. He does not favor a flat tax.
4.He doesnt want to cut Social Security or Medicare.
5.Hes in favor of a ban on assault weapons.
6.He supports Universal Healthcare coverage for every American and the govt. will pay for it.
7.He doesnt fully believe in supply-side economics.
8.He wants to lead from behind on Ukraine. Trump believes that Germany should take the lead on Ukraine.
9.He hates the Iran deal, but he wouldnt abrogate it after taking office.
10. A short 5 years ago he termed the Republican approach to immigration enforcement mean spirited.
11.He supports touchback amnesty.
12.He has supported/supports such liberal sacred cows as ethanol subsidies, Kelo and govt. bailouts.
There are more.
Nope....clearly a DC/OpenBorders handshake :(
ZOTbait.
....and wallow in irrelevance. Better to have a seat at the table than be on the outside looking in. You might at least shape the change. Your choice.
When did they say NO to Democrats? Was I on vacation and missed it?
And another thing, doesn't anyone notice our missing traditional values?
